No, you don't understand. If this were so, I'd figure Microsoft would understand the situation, make an attempt to solve the problem, and keep the general public informed of their progress. I've seen no such assistance besides "Call this -blam!- number" half of this thread ago. EDIT: If you believe in this theory so strongly, why not call that -blam!- hotline and see if they'll say that's the cause?
You mean Microsoft, the same company that stuck their head in the sand about the RROD for how long? I worked in tech support at Dell for years. I know how slow these companies move sometimes. It may well be that someone over there knows what the problem is by now. Even if they do, it has to go up the chain of command, get enough evidence to prove it, develop the fix, test the fix extensively, get reapproved by management, then over to legal for approval, back to engineering where they will think about it for a bit before scheduling a meeting with PR to figure out how to get out of this without looking bad. If it was caused by something they did on purpose, they're going to want to minimize the damage.
As for calling them, what would be the point? I've already talked to them twice to no useful end and it's obvious most of them don't know any more about the issue than we do (as you yourself pointed out).
That's what I meant. Give them a call, 'cause they won't tell you -blam!-...
But I understand your view of the recognition process. I guess the problem is that they're not even sending out a puppet to say "Hey, we're trying".
