I just perform some tests that were quite interesting people...
I tried loading the first campaign level without any storage device attached, and it loaded up, died a few times without any disc unreadable. I also was able to load up a custom game on forge world, and start two firefight missions.
I put my hard drive in, and when I loaded the level, it didn't even start the mission before it gave me the disc unreadable. This was both offline, cleared system cache, signed into my profile. I deleted the install file and it still occurred a second time.
Oddly enough, I tried my flash drive with my profile and info, and it still gave me the error from there as well.
Now before you start screaming "Your hard drive is defective, buy a new one." I borrowed my friend's HDD as well and tried it, and the same thing that occurred for my HDD occurred for his, yet when both of our HDD's are used on his Xbox, the issue is not there.

Urk, I contacted support and a representative and I went through the many steps to get it to work. He was set on that my HDD was defective, but once I told him my friend's HDD was also not working on my console but worked on his, he had no idea what to tell me. They did not give me a CASE ID so I can't tell you that in a PM.
If this doesn't confirm it's a problem when ANY storage device is connected to certain modules of the Xbox360 then I don't know what else will. I don't know if I will return the game anymore, because it's obvious that it's not the disc now.
It's really troubling that MS seems clueless as to what's actually causing the issue. What is the incentive of wasting my time to send my box in, when it seems they are giving different solutions to different people for seemingly the same issue?
At least with the RROD/E79 errors MS was transparent and seemed to know exactly what to fix. With Reach it feels like they are throwing darts against the wall. Until some people actually get the problem resolved successfully I guess I'll wait it out.
