so did they ban greenlantern?
He's probably playing Reach XD

Someone check his GT on Bungie, see if he's playing anything new in recent matches

AusGreenLantern Service Record LINK

Last game as of this post was 6:46pm (pac time I think...since I'm in Pac Time zone) Yesterday (9/21/10)

He played 2 custom games on 9/13 (starting @ 7:41 pac = 10:41 EST)
then 2 on launch day.

Then 4 yesterday.

hmmmmmm......

I just perform some tests that were quite interesting people...

I tried loading the first campaign level without any storage device attached, and it loaded up, died a few times without any disc unreadable. I also was able to load up a custom game on forge world, and start two firefight missions.

I put my hard drive in, and when I loaded the level, it didn't even start the mission before it gave me the disc unreadable. This was both offline, cleared system cache, signed into my profile. I deleted the install file and it still occurred a second time.

Oddly enough, I tried my flash drive with my profile and info, and it still gave me the error from there as well.

Now before you start screaming "Your hard drive is defective, buy a new one." I borrowed my friend's HDD as well and tried it, and the same thing that occurred for my HDD occurred for his, yet when both of our HDD's are used on his Xbox, the issue is not there.

Also

Urk, I contacted support and a representative and I went through the many steps to get it to work. He was set on that my HDD was defective, but once I told him my friend's HDD was also not working on my console but worked on his, he had no idea what to tell me. They did not give me a CASE ID so I can't tell you that in a PM.

If this doesn't confirm it's a problem when ANY storage device is connected to certain modules of the Xbox360 then I don't know what else will. I don't know if I will return the game anymore, because it's obvious that it's not the disc now.

It's really troubling that MS seems clueless as to what's actually causing the issue. What is the incentive of wasting my time to send my box in, when it seems they are giving different solutions to different people for seemingly the same issue?

At least with the RROD/E79 errors MS was transparent and seemed to know exactly what to fix. With Reach it feels like they are throwing darts against the wall. Until some people actually get the problem resolved successfully I guess I'll wait it out.

He's in Australia. He's like half a day ahead of us USA-ians.

if the disk didn't work then why didn't you return it right then and there? I brought mine back and exchanged it, didn't work. Then i returned it no problem because i told them the disk wasn't working. All you gotta do is ask management and explain the situation instead of complaining on a message board.

Ya if you keep the disk for multiple days then go back later and say it doesnt work of course they wont return it. You buy the game, it doesnt work, you return it then and there. If you waited this long to return the game and they wont take it back its your FAULT. If you return it right away... aka you take it home try it, it doesnt work, you return it... you wont have a problem. Hell print off these 80 pages and show it to them

You have the right to complain and i have the right to tell you to get over it and stop complaining. i never said you didn't have the right.

Go get a USB stick from 2004 for 5 bucks, throw it in, and try the fix. If it doesnt work then complain all you want. Bungie doesn't care how much you complain. They'll work on a fix and post it when its ready.

If you honsetly think you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to play a game you have definitely never played a computer game.

I tried every fix you and others have posted and the game still fails to work. It isn't wise to be so quick to tell people to quit whining before you know the problem still isn't persisting.

Regardless, I paid $80 for the Limited Edition. The book included works fine. The patches work fine. It's the game itself that doesn't. How do I go about returning a game that I got in a bundle?

So, 2,000 comments, and the best solution we have is sending in the console so s software update can be added so we can play one game. *sigh* K, I think I'm giving in. Unless there's a big update in the next couple days, I'm sending in my Xbox

  • 09.22.2010 4:53 PM PDT

So.... what is the root cause problem of this whole thing? If I am going to go without my Xbox, for a month, I think I should at least know what is being modified/changed/etc to it.

  • 09.22.2010 5:07 PM PDT

Urk, if the problem is just a software update, then MS can just send out the update on a patch through XBL, why won't they do this?

  • 09.22.2010 5:12 PM PDT

Forget it..I'm tired of waiting, on the phone with Xbox and sending it in. All I know is that I will be cautious when I buy another Xbox 360 game.

***update***
I just got off the phone with the supervisor...

MICROSOFT WILL NOT DO THE REPAIR FOR FREE IF YOU ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. BUNGIE IS NOT OBLIGATED TO SAY THAT MICROSOFT WILL. MICROSOFT WILL NOT DO ANY FREE REPAIRS, EVEN UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCE THAT WE ARE SUFFERING.

I'm getting mine fixed for free.

  • 09.22.2010 5:54 PM PDT

It seems like many of us who called a week ago got the free repair but those who waited are being charged.

Some of the support representatives are going to be hard-asses, just be persistent. If they start to sound stern while refusing you, hang up and try again. Mention all of us that have received this offer. Just don't give in and pay, because you don't have to.

  • 09.22.2010 6:04 PM PDT

Can you tell me if i have it?It was able to 100% save to the hard drive and everything works fine except it freezes sometimes during campaign.I can play multiplayer and firefight no problem.

  • 09.22.2010 6:22 PM PDT

Just talked to tech support again, they said URK does not work for BUNGIE, and that he is just another GAMER, and they will not fix my xbox for free, they only did that last week, so I give up!

  • 09.22.2010 6:41 PM PDT

How but this, You send me an xbox then I send you mine. So I can keep playing my others games that do work.
While they do whatever they do to the xbox seeing as thats a secret.

Except that Urk is definitely SOMETHING, as he edited OP's post with a note to contact customer service.

Why would they only fix boxes for free for one week? That's silly.

  • 09.22.2010 7:24 PM PDT

I agree, I told him to look for the yellow writing and he put me on hold for 5 minutes, and then said he did not work for BUNGIE and that he was a gamer.

  • 09.22.2010 7:39 PM PDT

I've had the disk error message three times. But only in campaign. Twice on the final level.

I wonder if installing Reach to the HDD will help.
