Wanted to put my $0.02 in for the record, who knows how many people are having the issue but not having their voices heard. I got my Reach disc on launch day from Amazon.com. Fired up the box and installed to HD on my MW2 250GB box. Jumped into a 4 player party to play invasion and played one round, then at the start of the second round got kicked to dashboard for DRE. Made 3 more attempts that night with 1 being successful the other 2 kicked to dash for DRE.
I then started into the solo Campaign since I couldn't play with the party. Made it to the end of ONI: Sword Base and after the cutscene, before level scoring, got kicked to Dash for DRE. Gave me credit for finishing the level but Nightfall will not load, just DRE every time I try and start it.
After that experience I went through all the troubleshooting measures for DRE (on xbox.com) and called 1-800-4-MY-XBOX and went through the service call, troubleshooting, and they told me to send it in.
Ended up borrowing a co-workers Elite (Jasper unit) just to see, and sure enough no DRE issues so far. I have played a few matchmaking games, co-op campaign games, and finished the solo campaign. Same disc I had in my box but no issues in the other machine.
Like many others I find it appalling that anyone would have to send their console in for repair for a single game. My xbox plays every other game I own on disc with no problems. Is the next new release going to require me or others to send their box in? It does not instill further confidence in a brand and experience I have invested in.
There are still a few more days before the shipping label expires, still wondering if a patch of some sort would get this sorted out and save me the hassle and lost time from sending my console in...
