That is partially true.
It is mot the size thet determines the gravity but the mass of the object.

Okay I'm in. The Chief armor could weigh that much. Remember the suit does most of the work of supporting its own weight (other wise what's the point). On to plasma weapons, The problem is the control an focusing not the making of. The Humans still don't know how the Convent do it(yes they know it involves magnetic fields but they don't know how to apply it).

Before the war with the Convent the USFC(or what ever, can't remember it right now) was going to use the Spartans a elite black ops super troopers. The technological advances were being made in Space Flight. The USFC had the best ground troops around(perfect for quelling rebellions), the didn't need better weapons.

You need the right tool for the right job. Ballistic weapons have certain advantages, like head shots. The built goes in one side and out the other. Plasma on the other hand burns the outer layers first giving one time to something about it. (except for the Elite's plasma rifle, dangerous gun in the proper hands)

Comparing effectiveness of weapons:

•What game play mode are you using? (Easy, Normal, Hard, or Legendary)
•Books have dramatic edge. The MC in the books can put all of the bullets of his AR into an Elite's navel if he wants, can you say your that accurate in Halo.

Humans are adapting. Look at some of the weapons for Halo 2 (especially the battle rifle :) )
The best human weapon is the Mind (Creativity/Innovation) under pressure. They didn't need anything better know they do and their getting it.

Theses my two cents(at least for the moment)

P.S.
Have read all three Halo novels.

Ok shall we go back to what we was talking about in the first place as as Sylas have done?
The MAC that humans have isn't good against shielded cov ships and the missiles is slow.
So what if you make a missile so that it could go in to slipspace? Then you can make it come back inside the cov shields. Would that be good?

You have an accuracy problem for humans. Not that good at slip-space travel (neither are the Cov's. Cortana showed them up :) ) This is kind of what the Convent do, Slip close to a planted and drop troops then leave to a safe distance.

The MAC is good just has a bad rate of fire. (It doesn't help that human ships are usually out numbered)

Well it would still be cool.
Just arm it with a nuke. make it come back in the middle of the cov ship. And you would have some realy nice fireworks :D.

i agree the mac cannon isn't that powerful, except on the orbital mac guns but thers not enough of those to make a huge difference, plus the mac guns get rocked with one plasma. Humans do have a new weapon however, other than our nuke and archer missles, now Humans have planet busters (if you read the books you would know what i'm talking about) these things could take out hundreds of covie ships at a time all it would take is jut one of these babies. :)

If you read First Strike, it says that to effectively travel through slipspce, you need something with sufficient mass to ensure a safe ride. For example, the Covie dropship they use to board the Uneven Elephant thingy nearly gets torn apart trying to exit the slipspace bubble created by the mass of the Gettysburg. Something as small as a nuke might not be able to handle the ride.

I agree with Mister Chief. I seriously don't think you could condense the suit's reactor to 25 pounds. The Pillar's reactor is bigger than a house! I would say over half of the suit is dedicated to just the reactor. If you are correct, and the suit's reactor is only 25 pounds, then answer me this: Why haven't the Humans put shielding on their ships and out fitted each ship with a large naval plasma cannon like the seige weapon in Halo 2?

Also, why don't the Humans have plasma rifles? If I remember correctly, fusion is inherently hot, right? And if one sets of a hot fusion reaction one gets extreme, sun-type temperatures, correct? Well, I know extreme heat is a major factor in creating plasma... So wouldn't we be pretty close to plasma weapons? I think if we were that close, the Covie tech would have given us that last bit of info we needed to create plasma cannons, would it not? If I'm wrong, feel free to set me straight.

Basically, the way I see it, the reason none of the human things don't have sheilding is because of how new the technology is. There may have also be problems with adjusting the shielding to engulf a ship. But I doubt that would be an issue if they just enlarge the schematics of Mjolnir. Also, about the plasma, I would imagine it is more of a matter of perfecting the magnetic field projection that keeps the plasma contained. I think that the reason cortana could use the Gettysburgs MAC to fire the acsendant justice's plasma cannon after its magnetic coils got all screwy was because she had time to study the covenant technology. With her stolen technology, all human ships will probably be outfitted with her improved plasma weapons, and shielding, and the slipspace matrices.

A working Tokamak's have been built at several US universities, like Princeton and Columbia. Howver, the electromagnets used to create and sustain the plasma needed for fusion are currently so inefficient, that the reactor consumes more power than it can produce.

yes, i know this

Actually recent fusion reactors produce just as much or little morwe than they need.

what about the monitering probes used by the UNSC to detect objects in slipspace? Those are smaller than the dropship (i think), but they are made of nerly solid Titanium A. I think a nuke with enough reinforcment would be able to survive the trip in slipspace
