Thank goodness. It's about time this kind of thing happened. This should really help with all of the no--- I mean new members that have no idea what they are doing.

I hope so.

Man, how much time did that take you? Positive karma man! Seriously. Remind me to give you some when the system rolls around.

It took me a couple of days. I don't remember how long it took in hours though. Ah, you've misread the karma system. The karma system won't be based on interactions between users. You won't be able to give me karma.

The way I understood it, I can give you karma. I just won't be able to see anyones karma levels.

Wow. Been a long time since I seen a member do something do something on this scale. Someone must be working towards something. Or perhaps he, like me, is tired of all the people asking the same questions day in day out. Also this thread has made me realize that asking questions about anything official regarding this site should not be asked but be attemtped to be answered by one's self, in ways such as looking at the rules and other such forms of information. If I carried the same amount of respect as I used to, I would commend you and someone would notice it...but Im just another low life. But I still commend you nonetheless.

Excalibur is always out doing him self. This is proving it. I dont think he is working towards anything, remembers u dont have to be a mod to enforce the rules.

You don't have to be a mod to do stuff.

Alright, I wasn't able to check bungie.net yesterday, so here's my explanation. I do believe that both of us are basing our information solely on what was said by Achronos in this thread. Let me quote him a couple times:

Posted by: Achronos
It isn't supposed to allow you to judge someone else (hence why you don't get to see the user's rating).

I interpret this as saying you won't be able to give me karma, if you see it otherwise, enlighten me.

Posted by: Achronos
...after we get the math the way we want it though, which is going to be hard. This system is a ways off...

Posted by: Achronos
Nobody said a mostly automatic system is easy. But that's why we have a very specific implementation plan.

Both of those quotes pretty much tell us that it will be mainly automated (if it exists!). I'll take this a step further and guess that if karma can be 'distributed' by a person, it'll only be by the bungie.net team.

Posted by: Achronos
The good news is that we aren't in a rush to implement it, and are fully capable of simply not turning it on, or throwing it away if we're not satisified with it. So, don't worry about it.

Always remember this. Don't expect the karma system to come any time soon if it comes at all.

Oh, and...

So basically, we know very little about it. Just that it brings rewards. Oh well. Thanks.

Well, that's all relative. It will be Soon™

BTW, Excalibur, did you explain what the Soon™ thing is in your FAQ?

That's an example of something I think a member should just pick up on. I don't think it really needs to go in there, but if anyone does have something that you think should go in my FAQ, post it here.

Well, I have a question that could go in there. And, if you don't want to put it in, could you at least tell me the answer?

Q. I hear a lot about something called the "New Hotness." What is that? When was it implemented?

The new hotness is the way that we describe the "new" bungie.net even though it isn't that new anymore. The new hotness was built from the ground up and supposedly had a lot of new features. I'm guessing that the new hotness was implemented on 10/12/2001 3:08 PM PDT. You can see the old hawtness here.

I think there was a mini-new hotness between that time and now. The site changed from what you see there to something like this (I can't remember when) To give you reference, I was here when it looked like that. And now, the site looks like what you see now.

There are quite a few people here that totally dismiss the member since dates because they don't go back far enough.

You mean about the new hotness?

  • 10.02.2005 3:42 PM PDT

Yeah. What came about in November 2001 (not October, Achronos' account was made when he was testing the site) was what some people like to refer to as the "Old Sexness". It came online the day my Member Since date says. Of course, I joined bungie.net way before 2001, but the Old Sexness didn't carry over Myth accounts, so you had to make a new one.

Can I still make a Myth account? I just bought Myth a month or so ago and I have the card and everything.

No... the Bungie.net Myth metaserver was switched off years ago, so even if you could, it would be the most worthless exercise ever. That's why the community created Mariusnet and PlayMyth.

Although that is a good question and answer, it doesn't belong in The Septagon, and therefore doesn't belong in it's FAQ.

¶ Few more questions.. I dont know the answers though..

What is the topic creation timer set on?

And why does the timer seem to activate on "create topic" instead of "submit"?

I post something, then I go to post something else, a new topic. And even if I spend a good half hour on it, once i hit submit it still says I have to wait? ¶
