Subject: New group non-member feature?

Not all people or groups would want this option, but I think it would be nice to add an option under edit security ranks for the non-member so they can "View" the forum. Not post in it, but see it.

For some groups it would be nice... Others like clan groups it would not be. No point really.

If not for the entire forum, then at least have them to be able to veiw the stickies.

If none of this is possible than maybe a "trial period" for non-members.. A short 5 minute entry into any groups forums only once. Log the IP or something so it cant be more than that... no posting ablity, just veiw. So they can see if they really want to join. Because its hard to say everything on the homepages, and not everyone reads the news articles when searching for a group. they jsut look at description.

I think something would be nice to have. Another option. Whether it be a new option to view forum for non members, a sticky view only, or a trial period I would love to have it, and I know a bunch of other people would as well.

Express your thoughts. Please.

There's so many times i've wanted to check out a group before joining it by just having a look through they're forum unfortunatly that's not possible at the moment. So i think it's a great idea.

If Bungie can do it, then I would like it. I too have many times wished that I could see what the forum in a group was like before joining it. It's actually instinct for me to click on forum even if I am not in the group.

Chapter Founders Bungie's Group Support
Mob of Angry Peasants

I had a PM with one of the Tech Support contracters when the New Hotness came up about nonmembers and forum privs. They wanted nonmembers to be restricted however he said nothing is forever on Bungie.net.

Unfortunatly he no longer works for Bungie so it seem like nonmembers are going to be out of the loop for some time.

I know this may sound off topic but don't the Theme Masters get atleast forum viewing (Not posting) privs in HFCS? I mean they are concidered the 7th Column l337.

Nobody gets to see our secret ninja plans. Theme Masters aren't immune to breaking the rules, you know. I mean, everyone has access to alcohol - heck, look at Yoozel.

Also, you must consider that about 80% of the posts we make in HFCS are about the mothers of Theme Masters. I think they'd have their feelings hurt if they saw.

wow, talk about veering off subject lol.

This would really work great for my group. Now, If we could just edit the "forum" part of their security then that would be great. With an added veiw only option.

Sometimes I may want my group to be able to have non members post.. sometimes not.

Also, having another option added for normal member ranks and such could be post in stickies only.

Sometimes I dont want to ban someone, but i dont think they should be able to post anywhere else. And since the stickies in some groups are very important you want feedback fvrom members, as many as possible.

I am not sure about the 2nd thing.. But I really want something added for non members...

Another great idea which most likely fall into the trash can due to the fact that the people who actually run this site don't have time for it. Or won't make time for it due to the fact they realize how good an idea it is and won't use it due to the fact that they can't claim it was their idea....and all of that i just said didnt make a lick of sense. It is a great idea, but i seriously doubt it will be put to use anytime soon.
