I really want to know how the covenant were able to get teleportation technology on their spires.

Most likely highly advanced covenant tech reversed engendered from forerunner teleporters. Bungie did say that the invasion of Reach was when the covenant and UNSC where at the height of their powers.

The issue is that it was never used anywhere else, not even on high charity.

Bungie said that if there's technology here that wasn't anywhere else, the tech was lost during the battle.

Ad Hoc plot devices are poor for story telling. You can justify quite literally anything with it. It is just cheaply tacked on junk that, in this case, makes no sense in the greater context.

I think that actually only applies to new weapons/vehicles/tech belonging to the UNSC not the Covenant.

Either way it's cheap and just plain lazy for story, and only leaves more plot holes. If Bungie is actually on record for saying that, then I have lost faith.

These mistakes are surely a sad thing to notice. The issues in the game that contradict the books are so big that saying the books are canon is more like saying they're fanfic. Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the very existence of New Alexandria didn't make sense due to the fact that (as far as I remember) Reach was a military planet, and that there were no civilian cities. I would bust out my copy of Fall of Reach for confirmation, if my friend didn't steal it.

BUT.... it was a fun game anyway.

Hmm good point about New Alexandria...there could have been a city or two on Reach

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Reach started as a colony world, just because it has a large military presence doesn't mean civilians wouldn't live there in cities.

No civilians = nobody to work the mines, farms, or factories.

Most of Reach was wilderness even during the war.

I know it may be to much to ask for you all to read the last 90+ pages of this thread but seriously you all are being things up that have already been discussed at length. Many can admit that there is explaining to do but at this point the only answers we can get are from 343 and/or bungie. That said when the original books came out that was like 8 to 9 years ago, Halo has grown beyond that and those books (sadly) have constantly suffered contradiction after contradiction. Of course very few had a problem with that at the time but now I think that it isn't so much that it's the contradictions that annoy you all it's more of the fact you all didn't get what you want. I took the time and thought about this and even made a plotline for what I thought would be good for reach and I realized the game's plot isn't that bad it lacks a few things but it's quite good. But no matter what you'll all never be happy and this I've learned after 4 mother -blam!- games and will continue for every game since then. The story of Reach has changed, how it has we'll never know for sure. Keep in mind also that (and I reconfirmed this yesterday) that what we know is limited to the group that the book follows and their ideals. /annoyed rant

That aside I just see that everyone is just running in circles and no side will ever win, at this point we argue just to argue.

It's not that I didn't get what I wanted. If you really read all of this thread you'd know I've fought tooth and nail to defend Reach, I'm just trying to make sense of it all

Funny, if the inconsistencies and minor errors were as big as you claim, then EVERYbody would be agreeing with you and you wouldn't have anybody proposing fixes or theories about Reach at all.

And I believe you would be wrong, Reach was still a colony world, even if it was the military hub of the UNSC. As DaeFaron and Cobra pointed out they would need civilians to run the mines, factories, farming, and whatever else would be required. It is true that TFoR doesn't make mention of any cities on Reach, but TFoR didn't say that Harvest was the primary export of the UNSC's farm produce. So I don't see why having a city on Reach would be a problem at all.

I just find it funny that even after so much discussion you still think that Reach has only minor errors. It conflicts with four books, completely changes a key historical occurrence within the series as well as modifies other parts of the story heavily with no explanation and/or effort to mend them.

I am the best thing that ever happened to you

This incredible attention to detail, dedicated to such a trivial thing as the Halo mythos reveals to me that you either have some form of mental illness or you are a 300 pound mouth breathing shut in who has forgotten the warmth of the sun and the melodies of birds.Either way congradulations freak !

This is pretty much what we do in the universe. That and argue over wheter SW<Halo or Halo<SW. Caboose is upset because there is usually a lot more attention to detail in Halo games than this. Bungie always tries to keep the universe consistent.

IMO, Reach was Halo's (and Bungie's) low point.

You go to the Bungie Universe forums and then cry like a little kid because people are talking about canon? Thats like walking into a brothel and wondering why there are BLAMS everywhere.

He's a troll, just look at his post history.
