Everyone has their secrets. The journal has many. By the way, being killed by a skull (IMO) is actually missing the chance to kill a bob. Killing (or hurting) a bob gives you a skull.

yea it does have it secrets but is that really what a skull is?

  • 09.21.2010 7:58 PM PDT

Ok I'm going to do the first level again right now with my friend who has no skull kills right now. I am going to let him kill the camo Elite and see if he has a skull kill. Be back soon.

  • 09.21.2010 8:03 PM PDT

I can 100% percent confirm that you receive a skull kill for killing the camo elite on the first level. I have tried it with more than one person and you get one skull kill every time you kill him.

However, I do not know if this is the only way to get a skull kill. All I know is you will definitely get one for racing ahead and killing that elite.

The sighted man sayeth to the blind man, "The sky is blue, today is a good day."
The blind man sayeth to the sighted man, "You judge the day by what you see, what if I judged the day by what I see? The sky is black, what does that mean to you?"
The sighted man sayeth, "That someone is dead or dying today."
The blind man sayeth back, "Then the entire world is dying before my eyes."

Are you going to play with Boo again?

Beat.

You son of a -blam!-.

So we confirm that you get a skull kill for attacking the stealth elite. We tried the fake bob and got no skulls for killing or being killed. Somehow we got a total of 3 skulls in 3 different attempts of the last level. I know that he did not get a skull death when he played by himself for 7 minutes and didn't kill anyone.

I have Coup 5, I just can't be arsed setting it up.

I've been following this thread from the start and I really hope this is where the secrets of Halo: Reach and it's Legendary ending are solved. I haven't yet done anything to contribute but I do have a few theories and suggestions that may help.

Perhaps 4 player co-op is significant. If you recall the VidMaster achievements from Halo 3 and ODST, Annual and Deja Vu, you were required to complete the final mission on Legendary 4-player co-op with Iron. Parts of the level were different only if all of these requirements were met. If it hasn't been done all ready, I suggest someone tries Lone Wolf on Legendary 4 player co-op with Iron on and complete the objective untill time runs out and the cutscene is forced. I'll be happy to join anyone else that wants to give this a go.

My other suggestion is to form and organise several BoB kill squads, secrets search parties and theory test groups from this thread in order to find things more efficiently and test out the various theories quicker.

just an update for today... i beat the game solo legendary, didnt skip any cutscenes, and pressed the mysterious button and nothing. Oh i also beat it in 10h6m. So im pretty sure its not a time thing. Finding the legendary ending is actually difficult unlike most games secrets. good job bungie i praise and condemn you for this. but it is fun

I don't know if this would matter at all, or if it was discussed yet, but does anyone know how many bobs were in each mission in Marathon? Maybe it would be the same amount in Reach's levels.

  • 09.21.2010 10:36 PM PDT

So, how's the search going?
Has anyone attempted the button/bob/datapad Legendary playthrough yet?

I'm assuming there's a lot of BOBs. Sometimes you would have to protect them in Marathon, and sometimes (I think) have to fight them. I wouldn't know, I've only played a little bit of Marathon so far.

But there's BOBs in all 3 Marathon games. Which I'm assuming amounts to a bunch of them.

Plus the Marathon Vidmaster Challenge isn't specific to one Marathon game. It applies to all 3.

Watching this thread with great interest, but I wanted to reply to this from a couple of pages back:
I think everyone's putting too much weight on "punching" the switches.

The only reason the Marathon Vidmaster challenge says to punch the switches is because that's how you activate them.

It's worth a shot trying to punch them, but I think "punching" them means activate them. Because that's how you activate them in Marathon.

Marathon had an "activate" key, too, and you could use it to activate switches. Certain weapons - the fist, grenades, fusion pistol, rocket launcher - could flip switches, too, but you were by no means required to punch switches to activate them.

I will do this later, to lazy for anything right now.

If you push both switches at the same time on Oni:Sword Base in Co-op campaign it starts a race.
