alright, i need to sleep, i'll be back tomorrow, but heres my theory;

Bobs spawn on heroic and legendary,

they can spawn at different places on each play through, so they aren't gauranteed to be where they were in any pictures, but they will probably be somewhere not too far off.

i think that since bobs don't have set spawning areas that each individual bob is not really important, maybe you unlock something for having killed 20 BoBs? i dunno...

i would think that they are more of just bonus points, for the hassle if it weren't for the "wipe them out" thing in their desription.

Well our Bob run found a Bob on The Package both on Normal and Legendary, both in the same spot.

This is Bob.

More Bobs and pics to come.

The world is not beautiful: And that, in a way, lends it a sort of beauty.

~Kino's Journey

Watching our replay, the Bob on "The Package" despawned after 28 seconds. If anyone else has a replay and could see how long the bob lasts after it has spawned that may help as well. Figured it might be worth knowing.

I never, ever post in the Halo parts of Bnet but I thought you guys might find this interesting.

I had killed three or four Elite Ranger BOBs before I started looking into this. All of the kills except for one came after Rally Point Bravo in ONI: Castle Base. These kills were made on Heroic and Legendary and now I've confirmed Normal as well (8 kills total). The thing is, the BOBs on Castle Base are showing up with white armor or even with white Zealot armor instead of gold Ranger armor. Yet the kills still count as Elite Ranger BOBs.

Game history/files for my first test. This one showed up as a Ranger but not gold.

I ran a second test on Heroic but he didn't spawn in the same place. I'm quite sure I know where he spawns though (below the Fuel Rod Elite near the end of the level) and will try to get a video/picture up.

And back on Normal for test three. He shows up as a white Zealot.

Anyone have any thoughts? Maybe it's just a reoccurring bug or maybe something more significant?

Please don't send me PMs about your Bungie group. I don't care.

I hear you BTW, Kat is the worst AI I have ever had in my turret. The Elite who hi-jacked her was better!

Just a fun little conclusion I drew: The Committee of Minds for Security from the datapads were the ones who made obvious to Dr. Halsey to recreate the ORION Program(Now known as the S-II program). Sources: Dr. Halsey's journal, Data pad 5.

The Orion project, later renamed as the Spartan I project, existed before Halsey was brought on. Once ONI recurited her she refined the Orion Project process, which was then re-classified as the Spartan II Project.

I found that a White Spec-ops (also duel-wielding Plasma rifles) was near the top of Sword Base, in the room with the Data pad. Killing him counted as a BOB kill.

I think its safe to say that Sword Base is the ugly duckling of our little easter egg hunt.

  • 09.17.2010 4:15 AM PDT

Yep, so that white zealot is what the Bob looks like for that level, and he is apparently located in a couple different places. This is confirmed as well now.

Confirmed. Though he spawned just outside the base for me. Just before you enter the base after Rally Point Bravo. He was off to the left all by himself. He was a white spec-ops elite dual-wielding plasma rifles.

As well as the fact that he can appear as a White Spec-Ops as well.

Also, The picture posted of the so called "White Zealot" was actually a White Officer.

Just thought I'd clarify.

Yup. I went back and looked at some of the earlier run-throughs I did and the Elite you are talking about does indeed count as a BOB. I was totally baffled where the kill was coming from before that was solved.

  • 09.17.2010 4:23 AM PDT

So as of right now we have confirmed locations for Bobs on every mission except Exodus, Alexandria, and lone wolf. I doubt there is one on lone wolf, but maybe once we find the others.

I was on Normal when I found my Bob...but then went there again and he wasn't there. I think it's safe to say that at least some of the Bob's have different spawn locations.

On another note, I started Mission 9: The Package at Rally Point Alpha on Normal and ran to Bob. He was there, but I let him despawn. I then got myself killed and ran back to his spawn. He was still there. So this time I made sure to kill him, then proceeded to get myself killed again. I then ran to him again and killed him a second time. I then got a checkpoint and saved and quit. When I went to my Enemy kills, I had 2 Bob kills. So, you can have multiple Bob kills off of the same Bob. Now if you see you have more than one Bob kill on a mission, it doesn't necessarily mean you found more than one Bob. You probably just killed the same Bob twice (or more).

Yeah, thats the exact spot mine spawned, but mine was a White Spec-Ops. That is a White Officer.

So, I guess I'll break down what we have.

Mission 2: Bob in the building with a Plasma repeater

Mission 3: Fake Bob Near/In Sword Base (return trip) with Duel Plasma Rifles

Mission 4: Bob on top of powerhouse with a Plasma rifle

Mission 5 [A]: Bob on the Hill with a Concussion rifle
[B]: Bob amongst the rocks with a Fuel Rod Gun

Mission 6: Bob at the controls of the Bridge

Mission 7: ???

Mission 8: ???

Mission 9: Bob in front of a door, across from Sword Base, to the left when leaving the Garage

Mission 10: After Rally point Alpha, Bob is in the garage inside the right entrance of the base with Data Pad #9 inside

Lone Wolf: ???

So, looks like we have found ourselves 7 TRUE BOBs and 1 Wannabe/Poser BOB

Have one more update for now. The Elite I killed outside of the base after Rally Point Bravo on Mission 3: Oni: Sword Base is definitely a Bob. I went and killed him and ONLY him.

This shows I had one kill and it was Bob.

Bob as a Minor (regular) Elite.

Here he is in the same spot but now he's a Spec-Ops Elite.

My question is, the two Bobs on Mission 5, are they two DIFFERENT Bobs or just two different spawn points of the same Bob? As far as I know we haven't found those two Bobs in the same run. So, as far as I know anyway, we still don't have any proof on multiple Bobs in one mission.

i was only sleeping for like five hours its amazing what you guys found in that time

  • 09.17.2010 9:58 AM PDT

Quit staring.

I found a Bob on level 7 (Exodus) during the jetpack section. He was on a catwalk above where the brutes spawn in the area right after you acquire the jetpack.
