I think it would be awesome in Halo 2 if you could order your Marine allies to do a few actions, since we all know how good they were at making decisions in Halo. The D-pad has 8 directions, and several commands could be mapped to them. A few I can think of are "Cover Me", "Take Cover", "Advance", "Diversion", have a command to attack what you currently are attacking. IYou could issue these orders, and any nearby Marines would carry them out to the best of their ability. This might be a -blam!- to bug-test though, but the tactics available would be unprecedented in an FPS. I know Lucas Arts did this in Rogue Squadron 2, and it worked really well, except the enemy AI was completely retarded. Of course Halo 2 won't have that problem

What would be even better if the marines had such good A.I that they were already doing the stuff before you had to tell them. It would be cool if in some small parts that you were actually following the marines, cause they knew what to do better than you.

i agree fully with jodan. that was one of my peeves about the first one. you never can tell what the marines were gona do like lobbing grenades or charging on ahead when you wanted a quieter aproach. mostly i hope that they'll be more use than just another target for the enemy

Exactly on TaR I wanted to rush these five grunts and two jackels but my marine buddies decided to throw a grenade at the covenent and instead hit a wall and bounced the grenade back at me and it killed me. Hopefully they all tell you like "frag and clear" or "watchout" somethimg like that.

That would completely ruin the gameplay. If you want command, play Rainbow 6 3.

thats why you keep it simple. you still want to be the action. but why not enjoy what the AI is capable of
