Hi,
As an administrator of a group called Serious Big Team Battle, I was wondering if you have seen anyone use the Resource / Custom column for anything significant? I tinkered around with it a little but the display of the data left a lot to be desired. Also, I could not get the links, which I entered, to work properly(not at all). Didn't try the other kinds of text mark-ups to see if they had problems too.

I was wondering if there were any examples of it's usage which I could look at? Or is this a lost cause and I should focus my energies in a different direction???

Thanks for your help, dave

I've seen it be used for Halo 3 theories. Meaning, you have a column for say, whether or not you'll be able to fly pelicans. You'll have a column for if there will be a new type of playable species. Things of that nature.

Also, in the Official Fanfic Group, I believe it is being used as a fanfic info database. I think it's like you post the name of your fic, and a description.

It's a bit of an (at least to my knowledge) unexplored resource in the new hawtness. Much more widely utilized in the Column's earlier incarnations if I recall correctly.

For example, I tried making a custom database in HFCS that would allow bungie.net members to report problem threads in a central location. It didn't work.

In order for non-members (of the group) to create entries in the database, it is necessary to give guests the ability to create custom lists.

As soon as we did that, non-mods could report problem threads there, but they could also create new custom databases. It only took 20 minutes before someone did just that.

A pity.

Oh My god! I've missed you so much Recon! So much has changed since you left me! I'm afraid that Dmbfan has taken my place as favorite mod since you've been gone. Sorry.

Anyway, I really get confused with that custom column thing too. My advice, just stay away from it.

Good advice. In my opinion though, the best advice for groups, is don't make one. I wish I hadn't made mine.

I've used it. I used it to make a rules page, the title of the rule, and details about it, its real useful for that.

Can I please see your example? It's always easier to understand if there is something to look at (even though I think I know what your talking about)

Thanks, dave
