World: Halo (One that works)
Every character is playable. Spartans, Marines, ODST's, Elites, Jackals, Brutes, Grunts, and Hunters.. All controlled by Live subscribers. Units are given missions/goals/objectives to complete, and each unit's mission ties into the overall goal of said campaign. Each side has their own story, and their very own reasons to fight for the cause. Each team, each unit, each character is unique. Similar to the Chief, teams/units/characters in this world, including Covenant, would build up their own reputations through their actions and accomplishments on Live. So when you come across someone in this world, you just might know who they are through what you hear over the airways (voicecomm), or over bungie.net/halo2newsstories. You might come across HPDarkman and his crew on Live, who, recently, successfully completed an objective to capture a Forerunner artifact in very hostile territories. A feat only possible by very few on Xbox Live. They would be somewhat considered as Legends, and when you meet them, you would know it, and you would ask for their autograph... Because it's worth lots of braggin' rights. Okay, maybe not ask for their autograph, but you get the idea. It would be pimp.

Subject: HALO ONLINE COMMUNITY AT WAR... MAKE ALLIANCES FOR HIGHER STATS!

More people than you would think like this idea, except for spouses, parents, bosses, teachers, etc... I would love it!

I'd probably become bored of these game types real soon. I've heard many gamers state that Planetside sucks because it's basically the same crap over and over.. Take over this base, and wake up in the morning to find out that the other side has taken over said base. Rinse, and repeat. There's no purpose, no story, no real reason to fight, and so on.. It would probably work better with a built up community, similar to the Xbox Live community, but with no real story, history, purpose, or reason to fight, it would become boring/pointless, imo.

I can see where you're coming from. My original post was only meant to discuss the idea of a Covenant online community along with the Human one. But, as most threads go, other ingrediants got thrown into the mix, and look where it's taken the discussion. That doesn't bother me one bit thought. At least this thread hasn't had any mondain post that have nothing to do with what were conversing.
