Good stuff.

I have a question. How would Ackerson have gained access to the artifact?

-Eagle 117
Perhaps I stated this incorrectly. They don't have access to it, but they know it is there. The King Under the Mountain files had schematics for the underground tunnels under Menachite Mountain. I believe that you have something about this in your thread, Connecting the Random: A theory that connects the dots.

Maybe I missunderstood you, but how would they build a time machine, or study the crystal if they did't have access to it:)

You are correct, they could not study the chrystal if it was not in their possesion. But, they could have still constructed a time machine. If you recall the Philadelphia experiment, with the U.S.S. Ellridge, I believe. They utilized tesla coils mounted on the ship to render the ship invisible and to travel through time. That was in the early 1940's. With some 600 odd years to perfect that experiment...

you can't really say that cortana was wrong in saying that because bungie does every thing for a purpose and they meant to say they would starve to death. gnight people. I will check for your reply tomorrow./

I've actually never heard of that experiment. Could you give me a source so that I could read up on it?

Sure. It kind of get weird, like telepathy, and I'm sure there's some Area 51 deal too, but for the most part, it is very interesting. Here's the link. I was wrong, it wasn't the Ellridge, it was the Eldrigde. There's a link at the bottom of the page that should give you more info. ;)

It's a misnomer, Cortana was constructed with AI capabilities, but Dr. Halsey put enough of herself into Cortana that she can (and has) made verbal mistakes. It would starve them into a state of dormancy - as seen on Halo.

Jim, what is the term for when a bacterium goes into a dormant state when environmental factors are unfavorable?

Nice theory.

But its still got holes in it.

I hate to be a harbinger of bad news, but has anyone else noticed, that even with all teh great minds in these forums pondering over plot mysteries, that we are missing BIG peices of the puzzles.

I am not saying that what has been theorized thus far is garbage - but we are all *this* far away from getting the riddles to connect, 'dot to dot' style.

I honestly suspect that we cant get any further than now without anymore information - bungie knows it - and they know we are 'clued' onto things, so they aren't going to give us a sniff more info to put things together............only hazey mysteries that will increase more speculation.

sorry to be negative, but there are just too many holes that haven't been filled yet.......nothing concrete has been established as yet.

Bacterium isn't the word I'd use to describle the Flood, as the Flood are quite definitely a complete organism, byt they do work in a similar way ( I.E, Making spores which remain dormant when there is a lack of food [hosts]. Another eerie connection is the fact that some bacteria can "trade" DNA with some hosts, in order to adapt and evolve itself to it's surroundings.

I consider the Flood more like virii, since they can't reproduce without a host. And as near as I know - the only word describing dormancy in organisms like that is "Latency" as near as I can figure -- I don't really know off the top of my head though ...

It soes seem that the Flood are more nearly virus-like, however, they exhibit traits of both. Long response just to tell you I don't know - huh!!

This is why I wanted all of these theorum running to the same beat -- many of these compliment each other quite well.

well obviously the halos survive being fired. so it would make since that anything on the halos would survive. couldn't it be at the time the halos where built that maybe the forerunner civilization only resided on the halos? they are definently large enough to support a spieces.

maybe they were so desperate to put an end to the spread of the flood they had no choice but to build the halos, retreat to them, and fire them. they would of course keep some samples of the flood to study.

Depending on the density of the population - almost the entire North American and European populations could live on Halo. There would be plenty there for breeding stock, Forerunner experiments Etc... Halo is Huge!!! Look at the size of the ring in the second picture it's close to the size of the Tropic lines (Cancer and Capricorn) and I can't find a specific measure for the actual width - It has to be at least 300 Kilometers. And it is 22.4 Kilometers thick. Plenty of space for quite a bit of people.

I surmise that the others were for other species...(Prophets, Elites!!)

the babies are the infectious form i couldn't remember. but still if they infect a living organism and then don't have any other thing to inhabit then there as good as dead because living things need food because you lose energy if you don't and then eventually die.

Not dead -- They're parasites -- With nothing new to host they simply go dormant.

That is unless you pump them full of some AR rounds :)

then wouldn't there be more documenatation of what they looked like and more of there history? i don't think they would have reached god-like religious status with the covenant if they existed at the same time.

Why not? 100,000 years is a lot longer than our own span of history - yet our species has over 40 deities that we worship. As a matter of fact - Christianity is only about 1700 years old and many people worship Jesus as Lord - even though he could have just been a random nice dude -- Not to turn it religious - but Theologically it's possible and actually quite probable. Remember Jesus only lived 2100 years ago but we worship him, and don't have that great of a record of him either, the Bible skips about 25 years of his life.
