I'm pretty sure that in Halo you could invert your controller so your left thumbstick was the one you used to look around, and your right one the one you moved with (somewhere in settings). Well, if you use the left thumbstick to look around, shouldn't your gun be on the left to? Maybe you could make your Spartan left-handed in MP (maybe even SP) in Halo 2. Any thoughts?

I don't remember that in halo...and I've been through pretty much every option in there.
anyway I think that it would be too odd to try and relearn the controls unless you are new to halo, in which case you don't matter.

I always had my controls as such:

The left joystick moved me around and let me look horizontally, so moving in any direction used one hand. Then the right joystick controlled looking vertically and strafing. That's how I liked it, but I am going to use the standard config this time around.

I don't really understand what you are saying though. The gun should be on the left side if you are using a particular configuration? Hmm?

Excellent Idea!!!

like in snowboarding games how you can choose goofy or regular. You should be able to choose what hand you use. Come to think of it, Spartans are ambidexterous, so it wouldn't really matter, but it would be cool if you had the preference

I never understood why your characters in FPS are stuck to the right hand? If your such a bad-ass, why not be allowed to switch hands. That is really pissing me off in XIII right now. I get in situations where I want to just use my left hand, but cannot, but I'm able to dual weld, what gives?

What I'm saying is that the normal config is that the left thumbstick controls your feet (you walk) and your right thumbstick controls your head and hands (so you can look and aim your guns). I'm saying that you can change that in Halo: Combat Evolved, so that the left thumbstick is for looking/aiming, and the right thumbstich is for walking (in other words, invert the thumbsticks). Well, if your left thumbstick is used for aiming, shouldn't your gun also be in your left hand? Shouldn't you press L instead of R to shoot? Do you see what I'm getting at? If not, reread this until you do.

I feel ya dualwieldin'. Yeah, you're right, that option of switching strafe to the right control stick and look to the left stick is called southpaw. This is what I use considering I am left-handed, and I agree that the ability to put you're weapon on the left side would be cool.

Bringin' this up makes me even more agitated that all of the people that use Boxer on Halo are screwed in H2! I am part of a team that is currently 2nd in CTF in Texas (lost championship in overtime), and we ALL use Boxer. If melee is on the left trigger while using Boxer, you'll have to press the B button to fire the second weapon! How Crappy!

Bungie MUST address this, if they haven't already, or they will have many @#%*ed fans.

Go lefties!

yeah im left handed and its easier for me to keep the default controls then switch em up but havin the gun in his left hand would be pretty cool. makes it seem more realistic to me.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

The reason he uses his right hand is because all the human guns are right handed weapons. If you hold the battle rifle with your left hand the empty shell casings are going to be hitting you in the head.

To have left handed Spartans Bungie would need to create left handed weapons and left handed animations.

That's not much of a problem; of course, if it's not already in there, it won't be there when the game releases, because Bungie are on a tight schedule. But it won't be tough to do: just think of it in a sense of "Bungie already made right-handed gun animations, surely they could make left-handed ones." After all, they ARE Bungie. And, if I'm not mistaken, you play left-handed in Half - Life 2 (sorry if I sound like a moron here, but I've never played Half - Life and know nothing about it except that it was a graphically superior game).

if you have seen saving private ryan you would notice the sniper is left handed (and a really good shot) but he can't hold it with his left cause of the way the gun ejects the casings all weapons designed are generally made for right handed people because most of the world is right handed.

Also, this raises the questions; should melee be changed to X and action/reload button to B (for left-handed people only)? And, of course, if L would be fire, then R would be grenades. RIGHT thumbstick would be crouch, and LEFT would be zoom. Of course, it might take getting used to, and maybe they shouldn't change the B and X, but that would make it more realistic. Also, I'm sure there are left-handers out there who feel left out; in almost every FPS for the Xbox you have to hold R to shoot. What if they have better reflexes on their left hand?

It is not so much creating the new weapons and animations as having them used in MP. Having twice as meany human weapons and four times as many animations (left handed Spartans and Elites) would use alot of valuable Xbox resources.

Ok in halo1, this setting was called "Southpaw". I know this because my brother plays this way. We played Halo 2 at E3 and not only could you still play southpaw style, but you could now change your control settings on the fly. No more going back to your profile to change settings.

Look, I know it was possible in the first Halo. What I'm saying is that it would be cool if they added left-handed gun animations, so that when you choose that option, you actually feel like a southpaw.

You're forgetting something: for some guns, they already have left-handed animations, because of dual-wielding. And as for having twice as many human weapons, that's not necesarily true; when you are holding a single-handed weapon (for this matter let's go with plasma pistol), and you pickup an SMG to dual-wield along with it, it doesn't say Left-Handed SMG, now does it? No, but it stil goes to your left hand. It could be the same with all weapons.
