"Bragging rights" for me was having that max skill and playing carefully to keep it there (Halo 2).
Many don't agree with me I'm sure, but I just don't think this change is for the better. The motivation is gone.
This. C Dirty 4 has it right. It's a unanimous feeling on the outcastreborn forums as well. The new system had taken away all motivation of playing. Customizing your character with creds is kinda cool but boring after 10 minutes. Arena is not for competitive players and not worth being forced to play just to get a temporary "rank". Halo 2, you win you go up. You lose you go down. That's how it should be at it's basic. If you are on a winning team then that's what is important. Take the lakers for example, they are not all TOP NOTCH bball players, BUT they all have championship rings now- because THEIR TEAM won. This promotes good teamwork for lesser skilled players and higher skilled players. The system now is about "getting mine" to rank up because it is retarded how assists work now (with all due respect to bungie.. you guys ruined this aspect of the game). I know H3 was easy to get assists but thats because shooting someone IS assisting in that kill... Now if you shoot the guy 3 of the 5 times (over half of his life) and someone else "steals" the kill you don't get the experience and they do. Whereas it wouldnt matter who gets what kill or assist if the winning team went up. Simple.
