Subject: 50 Reasons why H3 is better than Reach...

I told my doctor I broke my leg in two places, he told me to stop going to those places.

So I figured the people on this forum would understand. I mean there are just so many reasons why Reach isn't as good as H3. Don't get me wrong I can see why a lot of the Halo community prefers Reach. Typically those who favored the Halo 1 game-play more, prefer Reach because there are a lot of similarities between the two. And those who prefer the Halo 2 game-play more, prefer Halo 3. I happen to be in the latter group. So I figured I'd make a topic, post a few reasons of my own and let everybody else post reasons.

1. DMR/BR comparison-First and foremost I've heard a bunch of different mixed reviews on it, but in my opinion the DMR doesn't even come close to being even remotely as cool/good as the BR. I headshot 5 times with the DMR and half of the time the person doesn't die when I can easily 5-shot someone on H3.

2. Problems with health/shielding- So on Reach I have full health/shields and someone will throw a frag at me and then blam dead. Halo 3 was much better because you didn't have to worry about health, you take down someone's shields and then headshot them, simple as that. The health/shielding system in Reach just seems a bit sketchy, maybe it's just me.

3. Plethora of Maps in H3 and lack there of in Reach- I know this game just came out but honestly, how many maps are there? Like 9? I'm pretty sure H3 had about 12(not sure on the number just kind of guessing) original maps. And they were all pretty much great. I mean Last Resort, High Ground and Valhalla are my favorite H3 maps.

4. Weapons in general- Now some of the Reach guns are really cool like the Grenade Launcher(s) are always fun and that Sentinel Beam-type weapon is pretty great too. But I mean not including the BR, Reach got rid of the beam rifle which I really liked. They kept the Spartan Laser but took away one shot, which can really count if you're fighting a tank or something. Took out the brute shot which was a very underrated gun in H3. The Super Combine(not sure of the name. Needler/carbine mixture type gun), is a hit and miss, either it's really good or you get 6 headshots with it and lose the fight to someone with a magnum. I prefer the Reach Magnum but liked the dual-wielding capability in H3 better.

5. Banshee problems- In Halo 3, not myself personally but a lot of the great players, would hoard the Banshee on maps like Valhalla and make a CTF match insanely easy if they were on your team. In Reach, having to switch between Banshee bombs and the actual gun for the Banshee makes it less "broken" but also less fun if you ask me.

i agree with a everything, you said except i like the DMR more, but i hate that they took out ranked matches for the arena that sucks. No double exp weakend. They ruined infection by giving the zombies the barrol roll thing. Idk which i like better but i would have defanately changed some things on Reach.

It's not necessarily about changing things on Reach. Bungie is leaving the servers for H3 on because they realize a large percentage of their followers prefer it to Reach. People who just like the game-play over like myself of H3 and have gotten so used to it are always going to play it over any other multiplayer. Even being 3 years old now. Or is it 4? Regardless being basically one of the oldest of the 'top' online games (CoD MW, MW2 and WaW is still a little big. Also Gears of War is still pretty big. But people always come back to H3 because the gameplay is just better. On other online games, such as CoD you can't even bring guests into Matchmaking. One of the things I love about Halo is that if you have friends over and they don't have a GT on XBL then just let them play on a guest account. Mind you Reach allows guests to play as well on pretty much any playlist if I'm not mistaken (haven't played all the playlists yet). Halo 3 just seems like more people play it to have fun than other multiplayer games, including Reach. I'm not exactly sure of the definition of a "try-hard" but Reach is loaded with people who take the game too seriously. I'd rather just go on H3 with my friends and have fun betraying each other in SBT.

@ Evan on Earth- thanks, I knew it was something like that.

Guardian, Valhalla, Last Resort, High Ground and Construct are some of the best maps in that game and they were included in the original game. pre-DLC. Reach has a couple "good" maps but most of the starting ones are pretty bad, i.e. Zealot and The Cage(think that's the name).

1) The DMR is supposed to be weaker than the BR. That's the point.

2) Your armor is weaker in Reach than in Halo 3. Remember, you're a Spartan III, not a II.

3) I wonder how big some of Halo Reach's maps are... And Forge World...

4) That's your opinion.

5) Maybe because they don't want it "broken"?

Halo 3 isnt better than Reach. Dont be mad cause you arent as good at it as you expect to be

Reach really takes no skill. If your good at MW2 then chances are your better at Reach than the normal H3 player. Skill has nothing to do with reach. You can leave your xbox on all night, go 0-100 k/d spread and still get promoted. Rank doens't mean squat in Reach.......

3>Reach all day. Reach was so bad I went back to Halo 3 and finished Cortana. I don't know what was in me, I just had the sudden urge to get 15,000 score on that level.

I agree 200% with what you said, although I wish you said more :(

ranking system screwed reach. Everyone is guaranteed to get the highest rank, whereas in halo 3 there were no guarantees. if you play reach long enough you'll get the highest rank.

this is not true at all. have you even played reach? arena is the ranking system and playing the game doesnt get you an onyx ranking - its probably harder than getting a 50 in h3.

as far as the first post. Play reach for longer than a week and make up your mind. I was a huge fan of the BR but it came down to who pulled the trigger first. The dmr adds one more element that the br didnt have - timing your shots, not just pulling the trigger the fastest. I have found it to require much more skill.

Also, I thought a lot of the H3 maps kinda sucked and dont think reaches are all that much better.

The DMR isn't supposed to be the BR. There's probably a reason why the UNSC went from using the DMR to the BR, maybe it had something to do with efficiently killing enemies.

you only listed 5 things not 50...which i didn't read because i think there both great games
