I would post this in the Gearbox forums, but I cannont. So if someone would, I thank you.

Gearbox, don't just ignore a group of modelers, those using the program you seem to be leaving out of this HEK goodness, MAYA. Yea, everyone has 3d Studio Max 5.x or 6. Well, how come you don't like us who can't use 3d Studio Max. I'll use me as an example. I cannot use 3d Studio Max, there is a problem that I cannot get rid of. I am using MAYA because of that reason. I have the full version of MAYA, given to me by a friend who got Max 6 and liked it more and MAYA was left sitting on his desk for weeks, if not months. I got this program a few months ago and have been doing some nice work with it. Designing levels for HEK, hoping that I could find a succesfull export plugin. Then I found out that there was a plugin for 3d Studio Max 5.x and soon 6 but not for MAYA. Without that plugin, us MAYA people will be left high and dry. So basically I'm saying this: Please, Gearbox, support MAYA.

This isn't Gearbox's doing. When Bungie developed Halo, they did it with 3dStudio Max (Maya was used for animations, but only late in the game), so Gearbox is releasing the tools with the same support. Whether or not they'll look into Maya support, I cannot say.

They should use the free gmax instead. Of course, they already explained why they can't - huge licensing fees.

Yes - you need 3DS MAX 3, 4, or 5. Unless someone makes another exporter.
