After extensive promoting and PMing by dedicated members who wish to see the Council become reality we have finally received a word from Bungie.

Achronos: At the moment, there is nothing to say. We have waaaay to much stuff on our plate right now. There are just not enough hours in the day.

While this isn't the news we were hoping for, it is news indeed. It does not say that they are against the Council at all, only that they do not have time to address it at the moment. Taking this into account the dedicated members of The Council Chambers have come up with the idea to make an Unofficial Council for the time being. A Council unsanctioned by Bungie, but still does the jobs its has the capabilities to do. For Example:

Writing Chapter Reviews
Interviews
Community News Articles
Monthly Chapter and Member Spotlights

Also, Team ACS will soon be back in full action as a branch of the 7th Column Council. The Council will also be closely related to Chapter Founders.

What we need from all of you are ideas, things the Council can do within our power. We also need to know who is still active, and is willing to stay active on the Council and decide who will be on the council, as all of the members from the first list are not active.

Discuss here your ideas and comments of this proposed Unofficial Council, and give your input on who you think should be In said Council.

Basically anyone can do all the jobs of the council since you don't have any special powers. That is kind of disapointing since it would have been nice to get the spotlight up again.

All in time. The idea of the Unofficial Council is to get it Up, Running, and Doing Well now, so that when it comes time for Bungie to look at the Council they can see what we have already done and be more motivated to make it Official.

You, dont just join. I dont think you people are getting what this is. It's the same a the original 7th Column Council, we have just decided to not wait on BUbngie and do what we can now, and then Bungie can come along and make it official when they see fit. We need people to discuss what they think this Council should do, since it wont have to powers to do everything the Original Council was proposed to do, and who should be on the Council. After much debate a list was frmed for the original Council, but only half of those on it are still active, so we need to make a new list. The Council is of the Members, for the Members. So lets us know who you think should be on it and why, and what all you think the Council should do.

... I'm not quite sure you understand. The Councilers aren't just picked, they are voted on. We have already chosen what we feel to be the best selection of members. Now you can come and join the group and suggest other people (Not yourselves- others. If others suggest you, then great. But no self nominating) to be up for the Council spot, but look at our list first. And this shouldn't be one of those "I want to be a Counciler so I can have powers ect ect ect..." things. The Councilers should be dedicated individuals. Think of what it takes to be a mod- probably like that, but you don't need to endure as much hate mail (hopefully...). There are also a ton of people who have continued to support this idea over the last 5 months. If you haven't, then ask yourself just how dedicated you are. Most of the people in that group have been there the whole time, or most of it, even when the rest of the forums havent. Just keep that in mind before naming yourself a member of the Council. I'll post the list here for those who don't know it-

Eagle 117
BobBQ
Psyched
Rip Saw
VII Toast - Now a Mod, can't be on it
Vella - Resigned position
Halo53
Ghandi 2
Josher 35
Banshee barron
mrsmiley
Captain K Mart
Gaara of Sand
just another fan
akba

And we also have unanimously agreed upon a rule (Even Toast agrees with it, and he would know best of those listed) that no mod may become a Counciler. They have too much work already. The Councilers need to be totally, and I mean totally devoted to making this run smoothly.

I can think of many members who would be worthy Council Members. These are just off the top of my head, so I've probly missed quite a few good members.

Ghandi 2
Butane123(is that the #?)
Banshee Barron
Pimp at Sea
Excalibur
Gnome
BobBQ
Psyched
Rip Saw
Halo53
Josher 35
Captain K Mart
Gaara of Sand

Like I said, that's off the top of my head.

Heh. Those were all most of out prime candidates, minus Butane, Gnome, and myself. However, feel free to critisize our list. I myself have a few. Many of those people accepted their seat and did nothing else. They never posted ideas, support, or even posted to let us know they still cared. I won't name any names here, but go to TCC if you want to critisize, provide ideas, nominate, whatever.

I think the whole point of the Council was that it gave people certain powers to implement content that would be accessible to the wider B.net crowd. Since this is an unofficial solution, we wont have access to any [non-chapter] B.net pages, and as such ordinary volk would have to have purposefully sought us out - and that implies a level of integration here that pretty much means they don't NEED the council.

I think we should just wait 'til Uncle Bungie is less busy, and can actually put in place a workable system.

I can't think of anyone, if Recon wasn't a mod I'd nominate him, he just rules. Let's see........LC? I know, LethalReap. He rules, and he's trustworthy. He's my moderator for my group and I can trust him.

I agree. However. Achronos seems to be piled up with features. I doubt it will happen. He is working on the search, the karma system, and fixing bugs constantly. I would much rather see him take the time to empty 7themes, than the time to make the council. Maybe thats just me though.

It's not so much a matter of trustworthyness (Although that is definantly needed) as it is of devotion. I don't want people who have shown no intrest in this project to be running it rather than people who have shown a ton of intrest. Also, these people need to be total 7th Column gods. They need to know everything about the column, and some more.

EDIT: Eh. I'm fine with the themes we have. I think it would be great for the people who have worked so hard to get a reward, but I don't really think we need more things. I would prefer the Council be worked on.

I don't know what you're talking about. :)

Ancient gave me a link to this thread last night so I've had some time to think about it's implications. We can attempt a completely fan based operation and take some major risks, or wait untill Achronos gets some spare time. This is what I concluded. Any fan based operation probably will not serve any actual purpose other than to serve as a kind of figurehead that discusses issues but can't really do anything about them. It would have some influence to those who even have knowledge of it's existence, but to most, it wouldn't exist.

To serve it's intended purpose, I think the Council needs Bungie support. I think it's best to wait it out and know for sure it will succeed rather than to take our chances here and now. The Council is an idea that I really would like to see implemented in the future, and I don't want to see it fail.

I give up! All you people ever want to do is sit and wait, noone wants to take any action. I got news for you, waiting doesn't make things happen. Im sure just sitting on our asses after discussing it, like what happened the all the other times the council was proposed was proposed, is really gonna encourage Bungie to regognize the Council and make it official. If you guys are not willing to get up off you butss and do something for the community yourself, w/o bungie, then I see noone deservant of being on this Council and i give up on it. Let it rot like you all seem to want it to.
