Interesting.
I've never been a fan of Team Ninja. Tomonobu Itagaki is a pompous, conceited egomaniac who lacks both tact and the ability to graciously accept, well, virtually any form of input--be it positive or negative--from his competitors. I certainly understand how some might view his conduct as novel given the conservative sensibilities of his culture, but that hardly excuses his flagrant rudeness.
As for DOA, I've never been a fan of the series either. As a serious fighting game fan, I find it hard respect its oversimplified mechanics, loose controls and, I daresay, blatant exploitation of women (if anyone's of a mind to argue this point, I invite you to take a look at DOA3's ad campaign. "She kicks high" indeed). However, as one who once considered himself a casual gamer, I do appreciate that all games do not necessarily have to be the delightfully complex works of art the Tekken, Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur series are: simplicity certainly has its place, as the droves of passionate DOA fans can attest. And as a man, I cannot deny that the...voluptuousness of the female characters' models has a certain carnal appeal.
On the one hand, my profound dislike for the head of Team Ninja and the softcore -blam!- he fancies a fighting game series makes me retch at the idea of a Halo character making an appearance in their next game. But on the other hand, my prevailing love of all things Halo (and indeed, Bungie) precludes total disinterest. Depending on identity of the cameo character, I may even, God forbid, be compelled to pick up a copy of DOA4 when it hits the shelves.
Ah, the wonderful world of crossovers. Just call me Mr. Consumer Whore.
