Halo 2 was far more competitive then Halo Reach is. I am a veteran gamer from the old days of halo 2, I was a former level 50 in Team Snipers "before the rank reset for Tombstone and Desolation". After playing Halo Reach for the past 2 weeks, I feel ashamed for matchmaking. People don't play competitively in matches like team slayer, etc. There is no drive or pressure from the games matchmaking system to push people to wanting to win or to even improve their skills.
At least in halo 2, people pushed themselves to win at any costs once you passed a certain level rank of 25-30. People went all out, and self evolved in skills and tactics in order to win and rank up higher. One loss in halo 2 after the rank of 35 meant an instant de-rank. Reach dumbed down the competitiveness of online gameplay in favor of attracting a wider audience by removing the former number rank system.
Campaign wise, Halo 2 campaign was better thanks to the different campaign view points presented by the game by both the arbiter and the Spartan 117. The storyline flowed very smoothly from one characters point of view to another without losing any impact to the game's storyline. Something halo 3, halo odst, and halo reach campaign lacked. Their campaigns were short and to the point, and as a result it missed out on the rich story telling of campaign.
hate to say it bro, but a 50 in halo 2 was impossible to get legit. For example, bridging, standybying and modding not to mention how hard it was to find a match in the late 30s early 40s. The highest i was able to get legit in team snipers was 35 and 42 bridging. After that it was an all out modfest lol.
O and not to be harsh or anything, if you were a 50 in halo 2 how the hell couldnt you get one in halo 3 you liar..lol
