Actually, I think balance and gameplay comes before reality. The concept of humans still using projectiles five-hundred years into the future doesnt seem realitic to me at all, but it makes the game more fun to use guns you can relate to, it helps to visualize yourself in that poistion. So, yes, in Bungie's case, balance does come before realism.
No not that kind of realism, i mean that it is true to the story: like the humans are incapable of fighting the covenant on ground very effectivly so they would want very powerfull weapons with good accuracy over non powerfull weapons. They should focus on that kind of realism over balance. And i never said the M6D was replaced or taken out, i said in the book it says there is a new pistol not that it replaced it gets your facts right Posted by: Agamemnon

yea BUNGIE DID SAY IT, unfortunately for you, it wasn't said to the public.
Yea and I am master chief, unfortunately bungie didn't mention that to the public.
Yea they did in a book which is officially supported by bungie as being accurate, they said the magnum was a high caliber weapon that was more powerful than the M6D. So yes they did, and for all we know it does have HE rounds, it would make sense: humans would want the most powerfull weapons they could get their hands on; maintaining realism to the storyline is more important than balancing.
I am sorry I missed the part where bungie said that the m6d was replaced by the magnum and that the m6d isn't in halo 2. Can you give me a link to where bungie staff members have posted that?
