This has probably already been talked about hundreds of times here but you know what? It's 6:41 AM, I'm bored, and hey.. maybe there's some Halo fan who hasn't yet realized this.
I've really started to notice the big similarities the Forerunner-Flood War has to the Flood depicted in the Bible. I'm not going to quote Bible passages, just explain the general idea.
Note: This is taken purely from information from the Halo 3 terminals and from Halo: Legends (Origins, pt. 1 & 2).
For instance..
Biblical Flood: Noah builds an Ark to protect his family and 1 male and female of all the world's various species from the Flood.
Forerunner-Flood War: The Forerunner build an Ark to index and contain many specimens of different sentient species across the galaxy in order to protect them (as well as members of their own species) from the firing of the Halo Array, prompted by the war with the Flood.
Biblical Flood: With the exception of those protected, all life in the world is wiped out by the Flood.
Forerunner-Flood War: With the exception of those protected, all sentient life in the galaxy (including most of the Flood) is wiped out.
Biblical Flood: After the Flood has ended, the world repopulates after the release of all the species held in the Ark.
Forerunner-Flood War: The Forerunner use their keyships to transport the various sentient races they held at the Ark back to their homeworlds so life in the galaxy can continue.
Oh and just to be nerdy, I'll also add in that God made a *covenant* with humanity that he'll never try to wipe them out with a Flood again. This part doesn't relate as much but you can notice the obvious referencing.
There's probably more I missed. Feel free to add.
Also, I'm no expert on the Bible so if I've made any errors in my interpretation of the story of Noah and the Ark, feel free to correct me just as long as you know you're right :P
