This is something that I wished for just the other day in the www.halomovieonline.com forums.
I wished Industrial Light and Magic did not get their hands close to this, because personally I think they're stuff has been very lax for the past 7 years or so.
SO YES, my wish was WETA Workshop, and WETA Digital but only if there fearless leader was a Halo fan.
Which brings to my question, HOW MUCH of a fan does Peter and Fran actually claim to be of Halo.
This is what I think matters most in the process of including people. After all WETA became big in the first place simply by how much they were all fans of what they were working on, namely LOTR's.
Honestly I was not impressed with The Frighteners, or any of the films before.
Basicallly, I am more impressed with Jacksons ability to lead a major project and have every one share his wishes and vision. Think, with LOTR's, he was a director, and I know with LOTR's it was Peter's childhood fantasy dream to do those movies.
With this he is Exec Producer, and I don't know who in the director spot.
But what it looks like is if the special effects teams are the first to be announced we can see what kind of movie this is headed to be, and I really hope it is live action.
(With Ridley Scott as director. That would be the greatest Epic ever told. Ridley in the driver's seat, Peter as the mechanic, and Bungie as the Navigator)
So I guess the REAL test to see if Peter Jackson can take something on as Halo, is King Kong. And let me tell ya, it looooks goooood.
