O_O you looked at your friends balls when "he" sat on your head O_o

I was wondering if its possible that a new detector thing could be installed into this website. I mean, it would help alot if a chapter founder could find out if someone had alternate accounts, that way, his group is better. Even if it was never in danger of being taken over, he would know the people who were most likely up to no good, so he could deny them or black list them to be safe. I think it would be a great addition to this sight, but im not sure it is possible. Anyway, thanks.

Bungie already has such a thing, but rarely uses it. Its called a IP address, each computer has a unique kinda code, called a IP.

Internet Protocol address. It's basically the number any device that hooks up to the internet is assigned for identification purposes. One of the reasons Bungie doesn't follow by them is because of DHCP. DHCP is basically dynamic IP. That means that the user can simply drop the IP address and pick up another. Though not all internet users have DHCP, a large number of them do. The only way Bungie could ever ban somebody with a DHCP successfully would be to ban a certain network range which would result in multiple IP address bannings on the same ISP meaning that several innocent users would be banned as well. That's the reason why it is rarely used, for those who didn't know.

In other words... IP banning is pretty worthless unless it's set in stone (static IP addresses).

Also, banning an IP would suck, because of family members. Some people undoubtedly share comps with other family members who are also on bnet. Don't punish the 16-year-old, because his 10-year-old brother is an idiot.

There are also things called proxies that help users access websites. Lets just say if little Johnny was smart enough, he could use a proxy to go to the same site he got banned from.

Although the current blacklist system would ban any other account that is used on the same computer.

A regular user can't just "detect" which IP a post was made from.

Oh really? Well, that's kind of interesting. I wasn't aware of that(I'm the only one in my fan with an account). But it also bans your account on any computer. I alternate between two computers. So, if I got banned on this comp, it would ban any other accounts on this computer. But would it also ban them on the other computer?

It would probably be a bad idea to release that information.

Just a hunch.
