I wonder in halo2 if the marines can drive you around on a warthog so you can shot on the gun.And if they can drive other vehicle that would be cool.

that video is the best and only single player footage there is out there

It's all mapped out for the level. The marines are supposed to drive if they come and pick you up, which means there are progammed to take the same route everytime, so if you want to do something else you drive.

I dont think they will drive you around becuase they might cause some bugs..But hell its bungie so I really dont know.

I always liked driving, plus the gunner always get shot to hell.

I wouldn't jump the gun just yet, and say that marines will drive the same every time because it is specifically mapped out for each level where there are marine pilots/drivers... because in one of the recent weekly updates they mentioned that they were working on marine-AI pathfinding on gravity lifts..... so thats FOR gravity lifts, yes? but pathfinding none-the-less and they might just stick this in thier code when it comes to driving, so they are better able to navigate around obsticals... plus if they did, it would add in a BIT to the replay value, because each time would be different!

Its like a hunt and seek algorithm, If the chief if is a given area, and conditions are not horrible (under heavy fire or other negative conditions), then the driver will come to you, if you walk away even after the scripted "C'mon cheif, let's crush some covey b@stards!", then he continues his list of things to do, with Picking up the chief marked off since it's established you dont want a ride, and he will get another marine if he can, but you have precidence over them. Then he will continue to kill enemies in a given area, if he is alone, he will run them over, if he has a gunner, he is switched to a more defensible mode. After that, he is told by the AI to go to the next sector, of course they won't go to far ahead if you havnt entered that zone, they dont want you coming to an area already wiped out of covies, heaven forbid you get a break =P

Yeah, I'm with you Saddas. Halo had some of the best AI including marines who could run around and fight intelligently. -Ever notice that if you just watch fights happening that the outcome will be different each time. So why couldn't a marine drive to a place if he already can figure out how to walk there (in a not on rails way). So it just makes sense to me.
-Crap! Covies drive in Halo and marines once in a great while will jump in a ghost!

Plus, I thought that was one of the big things they were saying wayback at E3 2003- that the AI could drive not just follow a rail. -Sure they'd have a preset objective point but I don't think it is a stretch at all to say they can drive intelligently.

I dont think their driving will be entirely scriped. Thats not Bungie. Espesiclly if each level has multiple ways to get to your objactliv. Scripted is the opposite of that.

I seem to remember in OXM early this year they were talking about halo 2 single player. They mentioned somthing about marines driving warthogs and tanks and MC being in a jacked bansee which was cool.

You can on the level in halo the new xbox halo it has a video of a level where u rn in africa and it show that u get to be the gunner and the computer drives, but a minute later u get attacked by a brute the jumpes on the warthog and knocks the driver and passenger out and that kills them.
