So, my question is, how does pertain to already brought up lore inconsistencies?

Cloaking a 15 mile long ship?
A 15 mile long ship making it to Reach undetected?

Etc.

A ship that size could probably hold enough troops on its own to invade an entire planet.

It seems likely that you could easily fit several hundred thousand(if not millions) troops on thing. It's too bad we don't know the standard troop compliments of any Covenant vessels.

A 15 mile long ship making it to Reach undetected?

Could it be possible that one giant ship was less likely to be detected than several smaller ships? I suppose it depends on how their cloaking tech works. It still seems surprising that *any* size of Covenant ship would be able to spend time at Reach undetected.

Actually, in TFoR, when the Iroquois detects the ships about to enter the system, they mistake it for one large ship, when it turns out it is several smaller ships clumped together.

But yes, a 15 mile long ship further exacerbates the inconsistency with how that thing managed to get to Reach.

It's so much nicer when Bungie creates things that flow nicely, instead of jagged edge stuff.

This game overwrites anything found in the books because of the canon hierarchy.

I hadn't realized how gigantic that ship actually was. It seems like the size of a state for Christ's sake.

But how big is High Charity?

348km/216 miles in diameter. Sure, it's built around an existing lump of rock, but it's clear that there are multi-kilometer large artificial structures all over it. Some look to be structures over 100 km long.

I wonder why the Covenant like huge stuff.

For the same reason we like big stuff, i'd guess.

See, that's fine.

Except in the case of Reach.
Because Reach overrides so many things, it creates a snowball effect, to where either we're now missing massive chunks of the story because we remove anything that is inconsistent with the game, or we have a bunch of inconsistencies.

Both routes suck.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Halopedia lists the Super Carrier at 17,570 ft and the Assault Carrier at 17,540. Given that these ships are, for all intents and purposes, the same size and shape, I would hardly think it necessary to make the distinction between the two. The in-game scaling could just be screwed up, but I think it's more likely that this is a retcon that seeks to actually make a distinction between the two ships (by making the Super Carrier massive).

The retcon increases the Supercarrier's size by 5x.
Which is totally fine, just creates more egregious inconsistencies.

I'd say from the scaling...somewhere between 15 to 18 km is a good guess.

Halopedia is made by nerdy people that think they know everything Halo, and while they may be knowledgeable, Bungie made the game. What they say goes.

Except the Supercarrier being 15 miles long makes the story inconsistencies more egregious than had it been 3.3 miles.

Well let's just pretend the Super Carrier is gigantic because it's awesome.

I think you two have misunderstood what I meant when I said "It's totally fine that the Supercarrier is gigantic" and overlooked the part where I said "The problems already present in the story just get worse when the Supercarrier increases in size 5x".

Joker, It's now big enough that the scanners maybe couldn't even register it as a ship, maybe they thought it was a solar flare or something.

A solar flare that travels through slipspace?

Radiation emitted from exiting slipspace is very noticable. As such, it can be inferred they don't mistake it for solar flares or other natural phenomena. Otherwise it wouldn't be "very noticable".

I'm running off of fumes here at work (very tired, had nothing to eat all day) but who/what is suggesting that this ship is the same type or model as the two Regret had? What if it was a specialist ship of some sort? It could have been testing out new cloaking tech, doing recon before getting the go ahead to attack the planet? I'm clutching at straws here a bit, it just doesn't make much sense to have such a gigantic ship just sitting there under a cloak for no apparent reason

To assume it's some one of a kind never to be seen again ship with the ability to cloak itself(15 miles long), etc involves making up a bunch of things not already present in the canon.
