Ok, I have a question that I don't believe any of the Zanzibar demos and gameply footage answered for me. First, let me give you some background. You know how in the first Halo, if you were holding an Assault Rifle (any other Human weapon would do, I just picked the Assault Rifle because it's the closest to the SMG), but the ammo wasn't full, and you'd walk on another Assault Rifle, you'd get more ammo? Well, obviously in Halo 2, if you're holding any single-handed weapon (let's use the SMG), and you're standing on another single-handed weapon (let's use the SMG again) on the screen you get the option "Hold Y to Dual - Wield SMG." Well, let's say the SMG I'm holding isn't full. Do I get more ammo? How does the system work? Because if I do get more ammo, I can't dual-wield the SMG that was on the ground, becuase it's gone. But if I don't get ammo... well, what if I want/need it? Any comments or thoughts?

Good question, maybe they give you a choice. Damn, I don't know.

i asked this myself as well . i cam to the conclusion that it will mos tlikely work like it did in halo 1 single player. where there were actuall clips and magazines laying on the ground. im guessing when u die in MP u drop the weapon as well as clips/magazines

"I can accept failure, everyone fails at something, but I can't accept not trying." - M. Jordan

I think there is gonna be a system where it divides ammo in half. So both guns have the same amount of ammo.

I think you pick up the ammo by walking over it, but it still remains on the ground to be dual wielded for a period of time. So for dual wielding the same gun you use the same pool of extra ammo to reload both.

That seems like a good idea.

Actually the question I'm still wondering is, is the string of melee attacks still in?

Sounds like a good plan to me. A plan Bungie would definitely figure out as soon as the problem came up.

Yes, they are, but now you have to be really close to the person you're hitting, nearly neck in neck. Each weapon has different melee combos, and each weapon has a different amount of impact (the energy sword being the most, and I'm guessing Rocket Launcher second most).

They've never specifically said they were combos that were strung together though. I haven't even heard that verified.

Yeah, I haven't heard anything on melee combos since like a year ago. Anything current?

Go watch the E3 2003 SP Demo. He kills a Brute (at the time implemented with a Grunt A.I. btw) with three consectutive melee hits, that look very strung together to me. Even if that demo wasn't a real SP level from the game (which chances are that it wasn't), its main purpose was to showcase the new SP features of Halo 2: leaning, dual-wielding, melee combos, new weapons, the human turret, the new graphics, the destructible environments, the destructible vehicles, the new A.I., and the new Rocket LAuncher Worthog.

Did you not see the E3 2003 demo.

Here this is part of thE E3 2003 official transcript.

[MC shoots brute a few times, then melees it three times, killing it. (The second and third hits are part of a melee combo attack.) Turns on another pair... blows up a car next to one in order to kill it, shoots the other with battle rifle]

I'm referring to the current situation in MP, from those I've talked to (who've played it AT E3 2004) they did not have this included as of yet. I know what it says a year ago, I'm speaking of NOW NOW NOW. What's hard to understand about that?

Then next time state that, because Bungie has confirmed melee combos. They were just not fully animated or balanced yet for E3.

Bungie HAS NOT confirmed it. In fact, as they state over and over again "anything is subject to change." Please THINK before you post.

Here's why Bungie hasn't talked about them as of late: they already told us everything about them. There's nothing new to say, so why say it?

From the FAQ -- You can execute a series of strikes by hitting the melee attack button

Sounds like combos to me, and of couse anything can change. I am just saying melee combos are their goal, but of couse they may get cut.
