Facts are the enemy of tru7h....

Personally i love halo 2.

but i think one of the reasons why people are put off by halo 2 is that it's much more story driven.

in Halo 1 there were 2 main cahracters, the chief and cortana. plus a few others (keyes,343gs, forehammer to some extent). And the story is pretty linear. It pretty much takes place in one place. On Halo. You don't necessarily have to pay much attention to the story to figure out what you have to do. One event leads to the next and you can jut plod along and wait for the next cutscene to refersh your memory as to where you are in the game

Halo 2 on the other hand is different. There are many more characters and the story is told over 2 archs, which are intertwined. Now, you as a player have to carry so much more information with you all the time. To understand what you are doing you really have to pay attention to the story, other wise you sometimes will have moments where you stop and think 'why am i here again?'. 'What am i supposed to be doing?'

Halo 2 is so much more complex in terms of story than halo 1, which means you can't just jump right back into gameplay when you take a break. You have to think were you were and what has happened in the game up until this point.

I think this confused alot of people who didn't pay as much attention to the story, and so when they jumped back into the game they didn't remember why they were fighting on this particular level and what their objectives were (or the reasons behind their objectives.)

no offence intened to anyone else, but, if you hadn't had the pistol on halo 1 (which was way to powerful) you wouldn't even notice the weapon balancing on halo 2. You'd just accept that thats the way it was.

i believe that if you play the game the way its intened to be played people would realise that halo 2 is actually a great game But you HAVE to play it paying close attention to the story. It really does help you understand why the story is told the way it is and gives your characters a reason to have to do what they are doing.

well thats my opinion anyway.

And my opinion is that Halo 2 was designed for little boys. No fall damage, lock on rockets, the sword, auto aim, glitches, etc.

Halo CE > Halo 3 > Halo 2

Fix the Halo 3 BR spread, plz.

There are glitches in halo 1, too. It's jsut that the word wasn't spread so much in halo 1 because there wasn't a competetive online mode for people to do these glitches in. Also, Master cheif got an armor upgrade. That's why there's no fall damage. I don't know why there's autoaim, I'd prefer there be less. Lock on rcokets are to not make veihicles too powerful. They should only lock on with the banshee, though. The sword is a simple solution of lowering the lunge and giving it ammo.

I agree. Those features on Halo 2 make seem like its for two year olds. In halo 1 you had to wait for the right opportunity to kill a vehicle or just get damn lucky. And you could really only use the shotgun and AR for close range and defense. Now if you get the sword and you know how to use it you are pretty much unstopable. The grenades in Halo 2 are week two. The grunts can throw them almost farther than you. In Halo you could throw them almost across blood gultch, now you can only throw them like out to the rocks from red base. They made halo 2 way to easy but way to complicated at the same time.

Actually, in Halo CE you could only throw grenades about 1/3 of the way across blood gulch ( I tested this myself). In Halo 2 you can only throw grenades about 1/15 of the way across Coagulation. They should really bring back Halo CE grenade throwing.

No, they should bring back infinite grenades for customs. That was SO MUCH fun having sticky grenades-only matches.

About the story. If you liked Halo: CE's story and feel confused with Halo 2's, then you aren't paying enough attention and can't appreciate the nuances and complexities that Bungie put into the story to expand it. At first, I was confused, bu then I played campaign on Legendary, and really stopped and appreciated the story more. Halo: CE's story doesn't compare. It's night and day,

halo 2 lacks a cool HUD. it lacks weapons balance. it lacks skill-needing. it pretty much lacks about everything that you need to make it a great and unique game. halo 1 has no stupid secondary character like the arbiter. halo 1 has a better story than halo 2. in halo 1 all the time i was like "*gasp*" "eek" "ooooh" in halo 2 it was pretty much "uh-huh..." "right" "bosses???". so maybe you see my point, maybe you dont, but halo 2 needs to die.. and if halo 3 is made (which im sure SOMEONE by now is making it, bungie or not).. it better not be made for LIVE like halo 2.

In the game halo [ the first one ] there was a better climactic build up and a knowledge of knowing nothing about the strange ring. When they did Halo 2 they left any climactics behind and just tried to combine the two storie lines between the Spartan and the Arbiter. They also gave all the vehicles driveability, and your weapons were always supieriorly overpowering. Which put too much power behind the controller and made it impossible not to win in the easy mode. All difficulties were eliminated in doing this and all respect was eliminated for the second one too. Thats what I think made Halo 2 not as good as the first one. I hope they bring that respect back with the movie and the 3rd one, Don't you hope so?

and that is your opinion, you are entitled to it. I have to admit tho, when they tested halo 2 using soccer moms Thats was a big mistake. The game was designed for those who had never played before.

I am not saying that either game is better than the other, i think they are both equal. I play them both all the time. Halo 2 more so because i have halo for the PC and that really isn't that good.

Oh, and foop, that is not a good idea. Making halo 3 w/o XboxLive capability would be one of the stupidest things i have ever heard of. I am absolutely sure that it will have XboxLive and it will be great. I cannot imagine what that game would be like w/o it. Imagine all the cool bits of halo 1 and 2 and then imagine it online. I'm sure that will never happen, but w/o Xboxlive i would really not be able to play halo 3 very much. Seeing as alot of my friends in the area do not have an Xbox. In fact ever since i moved Live was one of the only ways i was able to stay in contact with one of my very close friends.

"He's already pulled over....he can't pull over any further!" supertroopers

h2 lacks:

-incredible physics
-spawn w/ a killing weapon instead of a BB gun
-fun rockets that took much more skill (instead of when someone misses the 1st rok and immediately fires #2)
-grenade jumping and great grenade physics (tink.tink.boom)
-A CHARACTER THAT DOES NOT MOVE UNLESS TOLD TOO (i.e. sliding off a box very slowly when no direction is being pushed)
-weapons on a timer spawn
-did i say INCREDIBLE physics?
-NO TRASH TALK (on xboxconnect)
-ladders instead of dumb air vents
-vehicles that would acually kill someone if u ran over them instead of launching them 100 feet
-MANY incredibly replayable maps
-CTF weapon and powerups in different spots...

btw.....h3 should not include the feature to hear your enemies....it creates nothing but bit*chin and there was nothing wrong with a teabag or two....

DONT FIX WHAT ISNT BROKEN

BUNGIE: please, please please hire a company to "Live-enable" Halo 1....people will pay $100 a pop for it (on either xbox or better yet 360).....u did it for the comp....now do it for your FANS

I don't really care about the distance nades can go, mostly because you don't find yourself many times in a situation that you need that kind of distance. What I miss is flipping vehicles with well timed nades. It was a reward of sorts that they took out.

I miss the fall damage. Kept people from jumping just to avoid you. Also forced you to pay more attention.

I miss the old health system. When low on health, it wasn't a huge priority for me to find a health pack, but at least I knew EXACTLY how much damage I could take.

Rockets should only lock on to Banshees. I've also played Halo PC, and Banshees sucked in that game. I think Bungie must have played it too and saw how unbalanced Banshees made the game.

I liked the invisable better in Halo CE. It was more effective than it is now, so you had more reason to grab it and made it a more important aspect of the game than it is now.

I don't mind duel wielding, but I would prefer a more skillfull type of play. To me they tried to hard to be like other games (Quake, Unreal) with a spray and pray playstyle. There were plenty of those types of games on the market already, Halo CE was it's own monster.

The weapons in Halo 2 seem very inconsistant. In Halo CE every weapon, regardless of lag did exactly the same thing each time. In the case of lag playing Halo CE, you simply wouldn't get the shot off, but if you did it would always do the same damage and have the same effect.

Halo1 feels futuristic, Halo2 feels like its maybe like 20 years in the future. I hate everything about New Mombasa, it is pretty much has the worst campaign design layout and textures in Halo1 or Halo2.

Plus, in Halo2 there really aren't any weapons that look sleek, like both the pistol and AR were, everything black and dank and dry and poopy.

Thats why sales for halo2 came about fours times faster than halo:ce. Can we please stay off the topic of weapon balance? Everyone here who has been beaten by someone who supposable is worst than them please shutup, ok you got owned by a bunch of noobs. Don't worry I feel your pain! But please don't bring it here, I thought gaming was about fun not winning.

What I find, is the thrill of huge open areas. Just huge firefights like in the AotCR.
Halo 2, just didn't make me smile and say: This is awesome. Come on, dude, catch up!
I mean, like with Halo 1, you don't start with weapons... So you basically get a feel of desperate... Whatever. Then you get a weapon, and then you do some serious ass kicking.
With Halo 2, it's just straight into the shooting.

Delta Halo wasn't as fun as I expected it to be. Like, it was really cool, the stuff, but it just fell behind Halo 1.

I'm still thinking that it's Assault Rifle. The whole solid gun you use in a fire-fight. So it's not two little SMG's that feel like they're going to have a weapon jam any time.

Maybe Alpha Halo is cooler than Delta Halo, and a Covenant ship assualt is just more fun that raiding High Charity or something.

Or maybe just the sheer simplicity of it. You have a gun, you see the enemy you charge in and frag them real good. It's just so simple. There's always weapons around. Unlike in the level High Charity, I only had a Plasma pistol to fight the Flood for most of the level. You don't have to worry about anything. You haven't anything to lose.

And like Bungie said, those 30 second thrill points are much needed. Going down into the dark to find the Silent Cartographer. All those hunters and invisible elites.

Also, in Halo 2, you're really always the one on offense. You're the one who's always moving. In Halo 1, you can just sit back in one comfortable area, and mow down Covies by the hundreds.

Lastly, there's the vehicle usage. I'm not saying that the hi-jacking option is too bad, but there are just so many vehicles. There are like 4 Warthogs in one level, and when they are destroyed, you don't feel like getting another one. You don't feel the appreciation like you did when Foehammer dropped off a 600 Ton Steel Death machine.

Dear god man! Do you drive a mini-van? The whole point of videogames is to win! Without winning and the desire to win, what are we!??!!??!

I feel sorry for you.
