I have tried for about the last 2 weeks to help the mods. I have told people where things belong and what is right and what is wrong.

And all I get is flamed. Yep twice today..all flames. I'll post the links later to the topics so you can read them.

Do you think this is wrong?

The N word question In this question I told the person that the N word was a blacklisting offence..and I got flamed by a person.(read down in the thread)

Who should play Master Chief thread In this they say I kinda ruined it but I was just trying to help.

Is there anyway to limit the flameing?

¶ A lot of people don't like it when other "wannabes" try and act like the moderators. Im not saying you are one, Im just telling you why.

The moderators are there for a reason. If someone is disobeying a rule, you report it. They get flamed often to, but its their "job" to do what they do. Its cool and everything to want to help out, but there are just those occasional arse faces that dont seem to like anyone. I am sure that if a real mod went in and told them the same thing, they would get flamed as well. The differnece is, the mod's can do something about it. You can't. If they flame you, ignore them completely. Dont try to come back with a witty reply, it will only cause a war. Something which I am sure you know, is also bannable.

There is no way to limit Flaming, or it would have been done by now. Bungie cannot control the way people talk. There is ALWAYS a way around any sort of filter they cna put in place, and no matter how many mods there are, they cannot stop someone from speaking before they do it.

All I could really say to you is just deal with it. Its going to happen everytime. Or start using the google talk report system. It has worked wonders for me. ¶

nop, the best thing to do is tell them their offence and then ignore all the other messages they will send you. If it's a message that is not flamming you then reply otherwise just ignore. There will always be people in this world who are like that, learn to ignore. Thats all i can say.

It can help just to redirect/help the people who seem like they'll take it responsibly. Otherwise, it's best to leave the mods to do the dirty work. I think you can be a little more tactful in your posts, as mentioned by one of the other users. You seem to be taking the "elitist, cocky" tone with people, and that'll land everyone involved in trouble if the people originally at fault can't accept their mistake. Redirection can be helpful, but if you'll excuse the pun, it should be done in moderation.

No offence, but you sound "cocky" in those posts, that is why you get flamed. If somebody posts in the wrong forum, just say "[Subject] belongs in [Correct Forum]", if anything. Actually, the only thing you should do is contact a moderator to take care of it.

Many members don't like it when the moderators tell them the rules, they really don't want to hear it from other members.

Actually, two or so modserators have told me that it is simply better not to post in them at all, unless it is redirecting them to post in a different forum. Just PM or message a mod on Google Talk and send them a link. They'll do the rest. And the mods won't forget you're helping. If you slip up some time, they'll let you off easier if you've been helping out. So just send them a link, don't make it a big public affair, and move on.

EDIT: I just read the threads. I would send you a PM stating my problems too. You should have taken it up through a PM instead of keeping it going there. I can see how they were angry. You acting like you had authority when you didn't have any. I think you were at as much fault as they were there. You aren't supposed to act like a mod, and you were. And not only that, but they would not be blacklisted instantly if a mod saw that. Mabye they would get a warning.

You know how you said they would not get instantly blacklisted? Well I got Proof from Dumbfan(sorry if spelled wrong) himself in another post of his.

And now that I read over it I was a little mean and sounded like I had power. Sorry. I'll just be more careful next time.

I don't want to disrespect the mods in any way, but that is more of a scare tactic. Mabye once in a blue moon they'll blacklist someone for using said words, but not in the context they were using it. They were using it politely, not as an insult. If they were cussing at each other and calling each other noobs, then I can see how they might get blacklisted. But not because of that.

And it's dmbfan09, as in Dave Matthew's Band fan 09. Not as in Dumbfan09. :P

They weren't blacklisted, I only locked the thread, so I guess your "proof" is pointless. I am highly considering instantly blacklisting people that use that though, because me locking posts that have that word in it doesn't seem to stop it from being used.

shhhhhhh

I still don't understand why that hasn't been put into the -Blam!- filter, is it beacuase the word can be used differently than a insult?

Sorry dmbfan09. I justed wanted to prove that it is wrong. As the rule link in above mentioned post says that the N word is banned and blacklisting will accur if used. Wel anyway was I said, I'll be nicer next time.(s)
