I thought it'd be nice to get on share with you newcomers to Halo the little facts of life. (Remember, there is nothing wrong with being a noob.)
I'm going to tell you how to get an award winning team.
Focusing on the four man team for CTF, what you want is two people that can kick -blam!- with either the shotgun, the assault rifle, or the pistol. Then you'll want a guy that is good at getting away, hiding. And yet another guy that is a crack shot with the sniper rifle. How do you know you have a good sniper. If he can get headshots while he and his target are moving then you've got your man.
You're going to need to send in on of your pistol/rifle/shotgun guys to clear the way. If the other team is not so good, send in your second guy to follow and clean p the mess. If you can avhieve spawn camping then you have the other team in lockdown. Send in your fast guy to get the flag. Never let your sniper leave his area, i.e. your base. Make sure he moves allot though within that area. Don't follow the flagbearer back when he gets the flag. Keep your assaulters forward and fighting.
More To come with other types and shadows.
OK why is a n00b posting a strategy guide for noobs? lol.. and yeah the word n00b isn't allowed, especially in the title of the thread, geez.
Anyways, responding to your post, you are saying you need two guys with any of like 10 weapons? Also you can't pick the players for each thing based on what you 'think' they can do. You pick positions on what they are comfortable at doing and what they wanna do. You can't make someone who wants to be a runner a defender just because he's better with a sniper, he just won't try as hard. Also your strategy, against any good team your defender will be wacked for standing there alone, your three runners will die before they make it that far because they are together.. and the flag carrier will have no defense going back so he'll die too. You discuss a popular method called spawn camping but your methods and strategy do not give the opportunity to do that... so your strategy in short, sucks. Also on Halo 2 this won't work because the flag carrier will run at half speed plus they can't drive vehicles, and it will only work on Halo: CE against n00b teams so therefor it's a n00b strategy. You see your pistol/shotgun guys will die before they reach the base because the other team will have snipers wandering the corners and pistol ammo flying into your skulls from places you can't see. You can't simply barge in with a shotgun and think you're going to win, because you're obviously playing at the noob friendly Blood Gulch and any good team won't allow you to get close enough to use a shotgun.
It's obvious why you posted this, it wasn't to help out other players. It's simply because in the past couple days you and your 'team' have been using this strategy against some low skill level players at Blood Gulch and you thought you'd share it with people here. This might work against lowlevel players, but it's hardly a strategy worth posting. You don't understand sending three people into a base at once leaves yours wide open for attack and by the time you do grab their flag they will have yours and have all of your guys dead as well. Nice post tho, I'm real impressed... ;)
