I like many things about the previous games better, such as the less "gritty" style, the lack of major character-driven things, the BR, the fact that I was a Spartan II in multiplayer, the lack of AA's, and the scale/ scope.
However, just because I miss my brightly-colored space epic, accented by the satisfying rumble of BR burst-fire and spanning a galaxy's worth of mysterious ruins turned battlefields, doesn't mean that Reach isn't a great game. It isn't trying to be those things; it's different and it knows it. I will say that I don't enjoy it as much as its predecessors, but not because it sucks as a game.
