reach is slow???? are you kidding me? the time it takes to get people together for a matchmaking game on h3 took FOREVER! it only took a few seconds just for reach to find people and get the game started. plus they FINALLY added a "sprint" ability.
as for maps, the maps on h3 were complicated to play on, especially if people knew their way around it than you did. and the graphics...bland. only thing you saw moving in the maps was other players. but the maps on reach....BEAUTIFUL. if not epic looking. they had environmental graphics that were off the meter! campaign maps had rain, fog, lightning, everything to make the experience more real!
as for gameplay, well, complain all you want about the weapons, although they did lessen the amount of different weapons on the maps and campaign, but i really don't see any problem with having to change tactics and re-adjusting my style of playing a little. although the bloom thing REALLY does irritate me, still , bungie's whole idea with reach was to make the multiplayer something that h3 apparently wasn't to most gamers: more socially fun and enjoyable to all ages as well as fair. h3, in most cases, was more harsh-like and competitive to those just trying to enjoy gaming online. the ranking system was complicated to most as well as harsh, the only way really to rank up fast without even trying was to hang out in games with high ranked gamers who did all the killing for you, giving you credit when you didn't do squat, or "buying" ur way to the top with a "50 general" account they either stole and ranked up for you, or just made from their previous accounts. although most of the time you played for a fool by literally getting ur account jacked because you gave them ur personal info, when the game obviously tells you not to for ANY REASON, not even for recon armor. oh, and don't get me started on the many, many, MANY d-bags, a-holes, -blam!--talking tryhards who mostly cheated with mods, j-tags, or aimbots. getting ur ass kicked without a chance in hell of winning and having to watch as they t-bag your corpse in enjoyment EVERYTIME they killed you was anything BUT fun. it was fun for bullies, those with skill and those i just mentioned, but never for anyone else. it seemed like another call of duty MW, which were famous for being broken and being shot to hell online. if not black ops.
Halo Reach, however, corrected and stopped ALL that crap (well most of it anyway) when it finally came out. it took me a while to actually see that, but once i did, I tossed that piece of -blam!- disc that was halo 3 away after buying halo reach instead of Black Ops and never looked back since.
THAT's why more people today play reach instead of sticking to the nightmare known as H3. because all they really wanted to do was have fun by social means, rank up by playing more than just multiplayer, and being awarded for things they should have been awarded for in h3, like assists and staying in the game, even when odds were in the other team's favor. you say there's better teamwork in h3, how is that when most players rage quit when their team starts losing, plus you lose more whether you quit or just stay in the game honorably and take ur loss like a man. you don't gain jack.
and THAT, to me at least, is why halo reach is better by far than halo 3.
