Poll: HOW MANY PLAYERS SHOULD BE SUPPORTED FOR CAMPAIGN COOP, XBOX LIVE?  [closed]
ONLY ONE PLAYER:  0%

TWO PLAYERS WOULD BE JUST FINE:  13%
(9 Votes)
FOUR PLAYERS WOULD BE AMAZING:  51%

EIGHT PLAYERS OF TACTICAL WARFARE!:  4%
(3 Votes)
ALL SIXTEEN PLAYERS OF MY CLAN SHOULD PLAY, WOW!!!:  31%

Imaging the possibilities of having all your clan members running around supporting your front, side and rear. Rainbow 6 had four play mission support, I see no reason why BUNGIE with it's online secret TBA can't incorperate a sixteen player campaign to take over the covernant scum. Bungie did promise "SQUAD TEAM BASED ACTION,".
Imaging this scenario, there's a point in halo2 where your squads have to split into alpha or bravo teams. What if two buttons need to be pressed at the same time and are completley at other sides of a level? Team splitting and organisation would be needed, ushering a new level of strategy and unheard of gameplay design. This would be revolutionary in terms of suspence and action, what if team b can't find the switch, what if the covernant are to strong, WHAT IF THERE IS MORE THAN ONE ROUTE, AND MORE THAN TWO BUTTONS.

The ideas are endless, lets have some feedback, let me know what you think?
TWISTED OUT!

Sounds awsome, but how would the people who don't have broadband connections(Xbox Live) be able to play through the single player game(capaign mode) if such a scenario was in the game?

I say it would be cool, yea I was born in the 80's, to have 16 player campaign mode as an option, but it shouldn't be an essential part of the game due to the masses of people who don't have or want xbox live... I'm not one of those people!

It would be a great thing to have 16 players in the field together...

The only problem I have is in terms of the amount of enemies and the difficulty level. 16 good player become a lot more powerful than the power of one multipied by 16. That many good players would make it all to easy in my eyes...

Sounds good I know I would really like to have that option but I also agree with eagle 117 that it would need to be a seprate HUD option so you could select to play co-op over XBL
personally I would love to have the chances to play with my friends all over the country together on co-op. It would take HALO2 to next level of gaming ( not that it won't already)
there would be no other FPS like it period the end!!!!
I voted for the 4 person game any more would be pointless

Yeah, this would define the first-person-shooter and it would herald BUNGIE as the ultimate programming team. I also agree with what you guys are saying, that it isn't mandatory to use sixteen players, sixteen players is a little extreme but if the technology allows; this would be most fun.
Also the campaign mode wouldn't just be singled out to xbox live, these options would be readily availible to system link players and lan party go-ers, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!

I think Halo 2's single players levels should be used in COOP to 4 players. They also have special levels specifically made for coop (like, they have people that need to break off two to four ways so they can do things that are needed to win (Like Sven Coop (mod) did for Half-Life), or other things that require team effort...

Also, they shouldn't include things like "If you shoot this thing (nuke, objective, NPC that must be used to open things) make it that you cannot kill him yourself. In Sven Coop people always killed the thing you needed to progress in the level (for who knows what reason) and was the only thing that was negative about sven coop...

I agree with all of you and bungie would have to iron out some problems of previous attemps, but if anyone can do ut BUNGIE can do it!
Who thinks that this will be one of the features they release at E3?

also, another team could choose a different way and not meet up with team b for a level or two. But, they could always keep in contact with team a through the communicator.
BUNGIE could use downloadable missions that are based around the same fight as halo2 or covenant missions where we all have to choose between a selected few elights jackels and grunts.
Or one team plays the campaign as covenant and one play as master cheifs, wow!

I might be wrong (please tell me if I am) but last night on X-Play Sessler said only broadband connections can support XBOXLIVE...so dial-uppers cant subscribe?

by the way... i think, with 16 players in the game(as fun as that would be) all the AI they would have to put into the game to balance out(more enemies for more players) would be a tremendous stress on the xbox and would lock it up or have horrible framerate

I have not answered the poll. The reason for this is because we're not even sure about this feature yet and even if it was, how many players Bungie lets us play with will be just fine with me.

Actually, there is ways around the ammount of people you fight being increased with large ammounts of people playing with you. They could turn the game into a sortive competition... Killing the enemy gives you points and such... Depending on how many you kill and which types of enemies you kill will show who is the most valueable person on the team... You also get points for doing other things, like killing people that are about to finish of teammates and such... You get points for killing combo's as well (killing a lot of people very quickly, like a whole group of grunts in one grenade).

first level Grunt = 1 point
second level Grunt = 2 points
third level Grunt = 3 points
fourth level Grunt = 4 points

level 1 Jackel = 3 points
Level 2 Jackel = 5 points

Hunters = 4 points

Blue Elites = 5 points
Red Elites = 8 points
Gold Elite = 12 points
Invisible Elites = 7 points
Black Elite = 16 points

Level 1 Brute = 6 points
Level 2 Brute = 12 points
Level 3 Brute = 18 points

Prophet = -50 points (unless you have to kill them)
Upper Level Prophet = -150 points

Shooting a marine = -5 points
Killing a Marine = -15 points
Shooting a OSDM = -15
Killing a OSDM = -30
Wounding a Spartan (other player) = -50
Killing a Spartan (other player) = -250
Using medkits = -5
Spawning = -100

Saving friendly = 50 points
Saving teammates = 75 points
Killing Wraith tank = 50 points
Kill Creep = 35 points
Killing Dropship = 85 points
Killing Ghost = 15 points

Combo's, basically if you do things quickly (kill 3 grunts in 2 seconds or with a single grenade), you get a combo, combos give you extra points... Think of it as saving several marines at once...

first marine gives you 50 points
second marine gives you 75 points
third marine gives you 100 points

Though, I haven't thought how combo's that have different enemies will work... (I guess they'lll still work like this...

The first killed was a grunt = 1 point
The second killed was a blue elite = 7 points

it works just the same with negative points as well. Killing an entire team of your allies will cost you dearly in points...

Assists also get points =

a driver gets 1/2 the points every time one of his passengers/gunners gets a kill (they get full points btw)

People working together both get 1/2 the points each (one person shoots an elite with an overcharge shot to take down the shields while the teammate snipes him in the head). Though, in this situation, make it that the one that does the most gets the most (aka, if a person shoots it and does little to no damage while the other person does the rest, the person that did little damage gets below 1/4 of the points and the person that did the rest gets the rest of the points...

At the end of the game it shows you what you, and everyone else did... Like how many of each Covenant you've killed, how many marines/spartans you've killed, prefered weapons, accuracy, how many times you've assisted a teammate or saved their life, what their best combo is ect...

I think some sort of stat system would be a good addition to the game. I also think this might be a good idea for the multiplayer game. wouldnt it be cool to see the % of time you get head shot, arm shots, etc?

4 players would be fun..and buy the way rambow six might have done 4 but its a squad base game they'de have to make halo 2 squade based and it would lose some of its epicness... anyway they'd also have to make the enimies awsome cause on halo co-op makes it way easier so four players while cool would require alot of level enhancements and changing of gameplay

anything over 4 would suprise me alot...

I say 2 player coop is what I am happy with. Anything more would make it too easy. Then you loose what makes the store special. You would have 4 Spartans.

One thing I do want for sure though is for cut scenes to have 2 guys in coop. It looks kinda silly having 2 guys and suddenly they become 1. Also I wouldn't want both to be master chief. Make one someone else.

It has been reported that online Co-op is likely so if it is in the game it will not lag. It will be challenging because with the increased AI they are not going to just wait like in Halo for you to keep coming out there and dwindeling their numbers. They are going call in reinforcements, flank you, and hunt you down. The AI is no longer confined to certain areas they can go to any area of the map you can.

I think players should get 1 life per level if we have more than 4 players, because as somene said earlyier, it would be stupid to just keep respawning them when enemies are far away.

i'd like to see 4 player co-op available. obviously, there'd have to be an increase in difficulty (more enemies, stronger shielding, etc.). but with more a than 4 players, i fear the game would be a cakewalk. and respawning when enemies are no longer too close has got to go. i know too many people who went through the game with a dummy second player, just so they could get the medals. i think if you could carry around medkits with you, it would eliminate the need for respawning. also, these medkits could be used on fallen comrades to restore them to life. maybe with only a couple bars of health, though.

thats something we didnt see in halo one co-op, a difficulty increase. With four pplayers (if they do-which i hope) ten it would def have to be much harder :D
