Thats a good question. Where did the name Bungie come from? They probably just thought it up 25 years ago when they were getting wasted and watching bungie jumping on tv, but I would like to think its origins are more meaningful than that. :P

*bows to bungie* Bungie rules, i dunno, maybe it was a guy who was bungie jumping and then when he went all the way down his brain shook and *DING DING* Bungie is the name of my company :-P lol, seriously doubt it but who knows.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

You don't know? I'll tell you:

The original Jason Jones died in a bungie jumping accident. To save his genius of a mind (hehe), his friends cloned him, and through an intense pain treatment, he regained his former memories. They formed a gaming company and named it in memory of his accident, so they wouldn't forget that BUNGIE JUMPING IS DANGEROUS!

I have no clue how the name "Bungie" ever came about... this just came off the top of my head (you must be thinking, "What a freak," right?). I also don't know if Jason Jones was even with Bungie from the start.

Well, if you've read the Marathon Scrapbook, you'd know what the "lame" version of why Alex chose "Bungie" is. But I don't think we should accept that one. Like Frankie said, it "reaches new heights of unbelievable lameness".

PS I'm glad to see people are discovering the new bungie history page. The old one left a lot to be desired.

What the hell? Have you even read the new history page?

I suggest you do.

Hey, I didn't even know that there was a history of Bungie page... I didn't read all of whats knew on the site, I just like to piece things together myself... Hell, maybe I'm just blind... oh well...

"What the! Where'd my body go?!"

See? That quote from Red vs Blue shows my blindness when I use it.

Wait, something just clicked:

The Blind Prophet! Thats a great nickname! I think I'll use it. It all makes sense now! First, I choose the name, "Shai-Hulud," which is (if you aren't familiar with Frank Herbert's Dune) a giant, blind sandworm that is regarded as a god, and also as a demon. I also picked the Prophet as my avatar (obviously), and they are regarded as gods (or demigods) by the Covenant, and as "demons" by Humans (in the Haloverse). I'm not dumb, but I tend to overlook some things, such as the Bungie History page (great, by the way, now that I've checked it out). So everything comes together quite nicely...
