I ask the community how far back do you reply to posts? I was thinking it's fine to read back to page 3 or 4 and reply with a meaningful comment but beyond that it might be bumping...Discuss.
It depends on which forum. In the septagon, anything past page 2 is old news to me. In a forum as active as Zanzibar, page 4 is ok. This is because of the activity within each forum is different.

Yeah. I'm in agreement with Josher. In The Septagon, time goes slowly and a thread oftern gets sufficiantly answered before it finds its way to page 2. However, for New Mombasa or Zanzibar, i'd go back to page say 3-4 i think.
ah.I think that it could be based on how often you check the mesage boards as well. I don't get to have a good look for days at a time so page 3 Septagon is still new to me. I try and only go to Zanzibar if I am feeling daring. :)
Yeah, it really depends. In the Flood, you can go back twenty pages and still only be a few days old. Here, if you go back twenty pages you're talking a few months old.
Depends whether or not you have anything worthwhile to add.

Don't forget that the relevance/quality of the reply is a factor here. Reviving a year-old post just to add "I agree" is pretty safely in the 'you moron!' category...[Edited on 10/9/2005]
One, if the first page is complete crap the rest will be too.
I'm not that active, but never dead.
Not necessarily, sometimes intelligent discussions are buried by spam.
Some guy made this for me.
Once the Search Feature rolls around, it'll never be too far back so long as you have something relevant to add.
Technically, you can reply to anything that has been replied to at least once in the last 60 days. Whether or not you should is debatable.
