Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

so how do you think reach would have been different if the community reacted differently? Would we have had ODST2 if people were creaming their pants over it?
I honestly don't believe the reaction to ODST made any impact on Reach's development.
I don't remember anyone praising the return of health pack. Not a whole lot of complaining either but no praise, thats for sure.
Same goes for the omission of dual wields. I don't recall anyone being particularly happy that they were gone but it carried over to Reach anyway.
Sure, ODST started fire fight and it was a hit, but Bungie claimed to have wanted to incorporate the mode in Halo 3. Before ODST Gears 2's horde and Call of Duty World at War's -blam!- Zombies were already big hits, so Fire Fight was already guaranteed to succeed. They didn't need ODST to find out weather or not to put a co-op survival mode in Reach.
Nothing else particular to ODST seemed to get carried over to Reach.
The most common criticism leveled against ODST was for it's lack of new content. It was just a five hour campaign with a co-op survival mode. Bungie sure as hell wasn't going to release Reach like that weather or not ODST was released or not.
Well, there was that and the annoying ass beeping when your health was low. So yeah, I guess it took ODST for Bungie to learn that never ending loud beeping annoying. Although, I seriously doubt that would have made it into Reach either way. It seemed like something they did just to differentiate the ODST from the Spartan, but who knows.
