The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

I've been playing Halo since the beginning. I am a veteran of Halo MP on the PC. So the fact that this is my first post here ever should merit some attention from Bungie and M$.

For about a week now, the Bungie servers have been experiencing INCREDIBLE lag. For awhile, the Bungie servers did not even report a ping. Literally, playing Halo on Bungie servers has become next to impossible.

Before you all jump on me and say something like there has always been lag, let me assure you this is very different. Some have told me that cheaters have been "hitting the print screen button" to create lag. I tried this myself, and unfortunately it does work. I am unaware if this is the cause of the recent Bungie server mess, but it needs to be fixed.

I realize Bungie is focused on other projects, and Halo for the PC just isn't that important, but let me tell you Bungie, you have been pissing off your loyal customers for quite some time now. As a seriously experienced Halo player, I feel let down by Bungie and Micro$. PLEASE FIX THE LAG OR TAKE THE SERVERS OFF LINE FOR GOOD. IF YOU DON"T CARE ABOUT YOUR GAME, WHY SHOULD WE?

I have to have noticed that there has been an increase in LAG. I wish that Bungie and M$ would pay more attention to the PC gamers instead of focusing all their attention on the XBox players, but what can you do?

Last night I got off of a Bungie server in disgust of how bad the lag has gotten. Have we not said enough about it to get someone's attention?

We understand that this is a public forum and not too many bungie rep's have the time to read on some of these issue's, but, it is no excuse to ignore the problem.

I have sent e-mail's addressing this problem (with no response) and many others have done the same. The only time a webmaster will reply is when someone wants to write a hate topic on something perverse and us serious topic writers get ignored.

This forum is all us Halo PC people have left, and we should be heard!

I would like to say thanks to the real people in this forum like Frnksnbns, who are trying to make some sort of difference for the rest of us.

the iscrease is due to problems in the PC netcode,

Custom Edition's netcode gives out less ping depending on which country you live in...

32 ping is as good as it's ganna get for those with cable connections

Lag hasn't increased because of the netcode, cause the netcode hasn't changed. My only advice is to find other good servers, cause bungie, if they even control the servers, doesn't read these forums. The mods do not work for bungie.

lol chewy, the netcode for CE increases the need for good players, and makes those who can't aim or shoot for that matter want to get better

increased leading in the netcode, except for those certain maps with lethally good leadless weapons

The "leading" issue isn't a concern. That is part of the game. In fact, I like it except for close combat when it becomes a little ridiculous how much you have to lead someone.

There is something else going on with the Bungie servers. I don't know if they need to be rebooted or what, but something is wrong wrong wrong. It used to be that Bungie would take the servers down every once in awhile. I can't remember the last time they did this.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem that Bungie even cares about these forums, so you guys will probably see me playing more than here complaining. When FEAR comes out, hopefully I can ween myself off Halo, which is my favorite game, but has become a bastard child.

There is most deffinately a problem with Bungie server's. This problem is recent, because I have never had any issues with bungie, (well almost.) Halo is my favorite onling PC game and it sucks to have to deal with it. I am forced to play on other servers, that, at one time, didn't even compare with the bandwidth that Bungie is capable of.

No, this is not your usual lag, it is a warping problem with the ethernet symbol on the bottom right hand corner of my screen. Yes, I do go to other bungie servers and it still does it. I have even tried EUBungie servers and it still does it. Everybody that I know from playing Halo online has the exact same problems. Other servers in the lobby don't have these issues, so I know it has something to do with Bungie.

I understand as well that cryin on this forum probably won't accomplish much, but, do any of you have any other suggestions?

I think that we have almost reached critical mass on this issue, so hopefully SOMEONE affiliated with bungie, gearbox, or M$ will hear these complaints.

All I wanna do is come home after a hard days work and drink a few brews, and play some Halo with my bro's.

Is that too much too ask?

Peace out

It's been about a week solid that I've been experiencing extreme lag playing official Bungie servers on my Shaw cable connection. My ping < 100 but I still end up walking into walls that magically appear in front of me, walking off of cliffs, et cetera. It's great that the servers are available and all, but between people exploiting an easilly remedied friendly-fire problem and constant lag, they really aren't usable now. BTW Frnksnbns, sorry for stonewalling you earlier. I thought about what you said and decided you were right; the more voices here, the better. Cya in game, hopefully.

Yes noticed it last night on EU-BUNGIE I guess the servers need a reboot but again no one looks after them?
Pity as it's a great game.

No problem dude. The more actual die-hard Halo players we can get in here the better. I don't want to "hijack" the Bungie forums, but these lag problems are ruining a wonderful game. We all need to make our voices heard in whatever way possible.

I rarely leave the bungie-ctf servers when i play halo. I know that the lag is worse, and that the lag really worsens when the server is close to full. Something must be hogging or limiting the server bandwidth, yet keeping everyone's ping to usual (mine's still 65-103).

As for the 0 ping complaints, that's a different story, and are almost gone on the US bungie-ctf servers. Either way, something may be done to fix this.
