Not sure if this is confirmed or not, but I was told this came from official sources that were posted into a german magazine and then translated but from what they told me. Which a lot of you probably know already seeing as how I got this info from this forum. Is that the white button in multiplayer is not a flashlight anymore.

It's not that I mind that it's not a flashlight, but its a teamspeak button. I'm hoping its a toggle, but from the sounds of it, its makes it sound like you have to hold it down. If you're holding it down with your right thumb, you can aim or hit any of the other buttons. Which means you can't talk to your teammates while in a firefight. If it's a toggle, its okay. I don't see the reason for a teamspeak button seeing as how horribly that did in Ghost Recon. Nobody ever talks in Ghost Recon because they cant walk around, except for a straight line.

I want my halo 2 experience to be enjoyable and even a small thing like this can make it so much worse. Talking to your teammates is very important in a team based FPS like this. The best alternative I could think is that you could hold down the white buttton to talk to the enemy and the enemy gets an indicator saying an enemy is talking. That way the game fits for everyone, trash talkers and team players.

Sorry, that I went on so long about something small, but something like this can change someones online experience. Please, don't flame me or call me a newb for how long I've been with this forum, because I've been reading about Halo since its initial announcement, and I've gotten the game at release.

What do you guys feel about this?

I figured the default would be o talk to your teammates anyways, and hold the whitebutton down to talk to the enmies, or toggle it.

Well, there is no default. If it worked the exact same as in Ghost Recon, if you start talking no one would hear you. You can't talk to your enemies and holding down the white button lets you talk to your allies.

Not sure, but this is the information I was given..

"Controls:

The white button is a Team Speak button now, the flashlight is no more. The Directional Pad can be used for Tricks in combination with the A button."

I guess that's that. I'm just hopeing now that officials read this, and it gets changed before retail. Hopefully, I read it wrong or was translated differently.

In MP of halo 1 there was not a flashlight any way. and you would not need to have team chat in Co-op because all of the players are on your team!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There WAS a flashlight in MP in H1, if you were playing with 4 or less people.

any more than that, and the flashlight didnt work.

yeah how would you talk in Online Co-op? Because obviously you need the white button for your flashlight.

It would really ruin the MP online experiance if you had to hold the white button to talk. It would still be fun it would just be something that would get complained about so much they would have to fix it.

My say in this is you tap the white button for toggle on enemy/team chat, and hold it down for flashlight (if bungie decides to keep it)

I had a poll about this a few days ago. Out of about 50 votes the results were like 90% wanting toggle. I think thats speaks for itself and I can't imagine Bungie screwing up something so simple. Yet I still worry.

If Bungie said there is going to be no more flashlight, would that also mean that there is another method for MC to see in the dark? Perhaps something like his HUD adjusting to the dark?
