First off, and I apologize if I've missed this, but who is JD? As in, what do the initials stand for?

Okay, guys, here's another thing. I don't know why, but I'm having a hunch on this as well - and the history bears it out (as in Bungie game history).

If you read the "Covenant Primer" feature that is now on the front page of the site, you'll read some stuff about the various Covenant races. Then when you get to the description of the Hunters, their fluff seems a bit out of place with the rest of the Covenant, who seem to go lockstep with whatever the Prophets or Elites say.

Then I came across this, which sort of made me think...

Anyone remember how in the Marathon and Myth series how at some points your enemies would switch to your side, or fight amongst themselves? Now read the Hunter text again...

So, here's my question - is it possible that maybe Enkidu is communicating with another AI, possible a rogue AI from the Covenant? This is just sheer speculation on my part, but for some reason, I get the feeling that if Bungie had alliances "shift" in their last two great game series, why mess with a proven formula with the Halo series?

This is just random wild speculation, and based on gut feelings alone.

The other thing I keep thinking about is this - if the MC is going to take the fight to the Covenant on their turf, how the hell is he going to get close enough to do so unless he has some inside help, be it from a rogue Covenant race or AI? As we've seen so far, from the books and whatnot, the Covenant technology is pretty badass, so much so that they can glass entire planets - and that's just the ships. Who knows what the homeworlds are like.

I have this mounting feeling that someone, not from the UNSC or human groups, is going to step in somewhere in the storyline for Halo 2 and help out the MC somehow. Of course, I could be smoking some harsh stuff as well, but like I said, this is all just speculation and gut feelings.

Any thoughts?

Why did you post this as a new thread?
It should have posted this in the thread that this is mentioned.

Sorry, even I don't know the answer to that.

Nice theory, even though it can't be proven 100%. I admit have a limited knowledge of both the Myth and Marathon series, but I know enough to know that betrayal is almost always present in a Bungie game. So why not have a bit in Halo 2, eh? ;-)

Someone, or something must intervene in the story line to save Humanity. If not, the Human race will become extinct. What could stop the Covenant? It could be one of three things, Civil War among the Covenant, another Empire comes into play, or Halo is used. We'll just have to see what happens.

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." Albert Einstein
"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." Gandhi

I think the grunts may betray the covies. Wouldn't you, if you were just cannon fodder?
