Level of freight. How scared were you when you first played the 6th level(343 guilty spark), when you discovered the flood?

the flood weren't all that scary...except the ones that roam the cliffs and swamp that you can barely make out as "non-covie"

but the carnage that leads up to them was freaky -blam!-

i still love the crazy marine

The Library was scarier, when the flood just popped out of nowhere in swarms.

Funny. Humour before fright. Awesome way to ease the pain, Bungie ^^

Well I got scared when I saw the yellow blips on my MT outside in the swamp, only to see shadows in the trees...

Then the room of blood.

Then the video...

Then.... death...

Every time you sneeze into an open Febreze portal the boner-tree drive shaft will spin into ketchup. But it doesn't stop at the number two pizza bell, not even close. It continues into the seventy eight minute long pile of green, sobbing cheese trains with no more butter, but more like the steak owed the tin cans some lovin'.

It was pretty freaky at the beginning of that level, with all the dead Covenant, the distress call near the Pelican, the blood everywhere. The rain outside even adds to it. Then the crazy marine. Even the static from the radios the Covenant use to communicate adds to it. What I do now is turn down the brightness alot to make it even freakier.

Ah yes, I remember vividly.

I knew that marines couldn't raise that much hell when I entered rooms with blood-painted walls. I knew there was something fishy going on, but I continued anyway.

The crazy marine - he confirmed my suspicions when he was talking about how the rest of the squad was taken. I thought I'd better check it out, simply b/c he said that Sarge was involved.

I went across the final light bridge and stepped over the dead bodies of marines in a narrow hallway with blood on the floor and walls, then the cutscene came.

I watched in horror as Marines were torn to pieces in the Jenkin's cam. As soon as the cutscene ended, I headed for the door to get outta there - it was locked. I was like "Oh -blam!-ake mushrooms, minus ake mushrooms."

It was freaky to see marines and elite attack you b/c they were infected.

Then, on the last part of the level when you must make your way to the tower. My marines and I got a few feet away from the structure when my Motion Tracker flared up. I halted and got my bearings, while marines forged ahead. Two marines were consumed by a wave of infection forms. I saw Sergeant Johnson come from nowhere and killed the marines about to be infected, doing them a favor.

We made it to the tower, only me, Johnson, and two Marines. We fough off the flood for at least five minutes before 343 arrived. Johnson and I was the only survivors.

Yeah, the level was pretty awesome.

We all wet ourselves that time. anyone who says they didnt is a liar. The message in the pelican, the running covies, I hear if u look in th backround in the swamp you see flood silhouettes walking around(good thing I didnt see it otherwise I never would have beaten the level. the blood everywhere. The crazy marine tore it. My older brother finished the level. I know wimpy, but i was really scared. the sariest part is a tie between the crazy marine and the pelican message.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

Ok, I'll walk you through how my experience went...

I got out of the pelican and thought "awesome, a swamp :P." I got right to work running around, but got kind of lost...and it was boring until I saw a flood form run through the trees. I was like WTF?!?! and unloaded a whole clip on it, and when i went to check for it i realized it was gone...which freaked me out.

I eventually got to the structure and saw all the dead things and thought that some marines must have been there, but it was a little ominous. Still, I continued down the lift, and when I saw the normal throngs of covenant, I kind of shrugged off the swamp encounter thinking it was an egg or glitch of some kind. I cleared my way through the level normally, but found it kind of odd to see dead bodies in places I hadn't been...

But, once I got to the part where you enter the flood chamber(half way point), and heard that wriggling tentacle sound, I was like oh great, more covenant...but when MC opened the door and the marine fell into his arms I was like AHHHHH!!!!Anyways...I watched the video closely, and at the end i was going OMG, WTF/!?!, and had my hand gripped tightly around the controller...then when I saw all those points on my motion trakcer, I was like oh -blam!-...but when I realized they were small ballons on legs, I was less daunted...when I saw large sacks of flesh on legs, I was kind of daunted...and when they came in huge groups, with ballons at their feet hoping on me, I got a little scared again...I killed em and ran outa there without kgoing out of my way at all to kill flood, cause they were so freaky...and when all my marines got eaten, I got ballonophobia...and when the sentinals cam I was like FINALLY!!!!!!!!

THE END.

Video-game horror always creeps me out a ton... more so than books and film. Guess it has something to do with actually willingly leading yourself into danger -- whereas in books and films you are more or less along for the ride.

Nice thing about Halo though, is that it grows on you. After playing CE all these years I've just come to know the flood as enemies.

But in terms of the topic, I'd have to be honest in saying that yes, I was rather scared. What can I say? Bungie just did a damn good job of it!

Present day reaction to Flood: Ooooo Flood I love to smash their guts on the walls!!!

I just played it and I'm like "Lala kill the covenent" Then I see the marine and he's spazing out. So I just shoot him thinking nothing about it. When I see the dead marine fall on the Chief im just thinking "Darn covenent got to him" when i saw the record of the video. I'm thinking this is different .

But when the popcorn flood came of I just thought what a joke. Then those combats came out... Well it was during the night and I'm just shooting the air I'm so scared. I think all those signs in the games were trying to tell me "DANGER"

When I finally got out and was "rescued" by 343 Guilty Spark I thoght i was in the safe zone. Well you all know what happened to me next. Screaming and shooting air.

After the intro of the Flood, when a marine was shooting a dead jackals body with an Assault Rifle, he said, "That tickles, don't it?"
