Die? Haven't you heard? Spartans never die.

Nice thread, theres also the easter egg Reach Racer, you can find it on youtube, and the master cheif ending on the last level, after you use the mac cannon and the cutscene appears, hold right and on the pillar of autumn the screen will move to show master chief on a cyro tube

Thats not the Master Chief.

Can we get off the Linda bit, please?

Maybe we need to get to the max rank first? Then beat it on Legendary while connected to live?

Max rank will take a very, very long time.

Agreed, but they do seem to be staggering the release of a few things.
Perhaps Bungie have really made this one difficult, as a big 'final-game' bang.

Does anyone know if the Gold Ranger Elite BoB's only show up on Legendary difficulty, or are they on any difficulty.

  • 10.05.2010 9:24 AM PDT

If the MC isnt the spartan on the PoA in the cryotube, Then which other spartan would be on the PoA and what happened to them? And why would it be an easter egg to look at them? It would have to be the MC, no?

  • 10.05.2010 9:42 AM PDT

No, not necessarily. If you recall in Halo:CE The MC was in a cryo tube stationed near the Bridge. That Tube, seemed to be near the back of the PoA? Linda?

Well, you know, I think fans can expect, with like all the Halo games, if you manage to be able to beat the game on Legendary, you're probably going to get treated to something a little different than everybody else who can only go up to Heroic. So, work hard, and it will pay off for you.Nowhere is there confirmation of anything.

- Where is the confirmation of completing the game on Mythic?
I did the Save & Quit upon death techinique to avoid Iron (so I used Checkpoints), hence the sparse Game History with me replaying the same mission over and over yet seemingly no kills or deaths, etc.

I did upload the final film of me actually finishing the game on Mythic to my file share, though. Just as a bit of extra-confirmation (albeit, I'm not sure it will state anywhere other than my file's description that I indeed completed it with Skulls).

Edit:

I also want to mention that I did indeed prepare myself to record all the way from the moment I finished the level, to post-credits and post-final-mission. I could upload the video if you wish, but honestly, there was nothing different (apart from myself and my girlfriend's one or two samples of commentary strewn throughout).

so why cant they just move his pod? They got him in the Loading dock then transported him near the bridge. Seems plausible.

As we know from playing through Reach they had forklifts!

Edit: If it is Linda, why would there be an easter egg to look at a dead chick?

To answer an earlier question: BOBs at the very least appear on Heroic, though some may only appear on Legendary. Not sure about Normal and Easy.

Your edit is silly. Following that logic, Why would there be ANY easter eggs? Why would there be a talking grunt, Marty in a shower cap, a giant soccer ball, or anything else?

It's an easter egg, what limitations or surprises are you trying to superimpose on it? It's supposed to be random or silly or even a tribute.

I think this thread is getting off track talking about Linda.

Back on topic here, have you guys ever considered that there isn't a Legendary ending... yet?
DLC is a possibility, they have neither confirmed for denied any form of DLC for Reach. Campaign DLC is more than feasible. It's their last game, it'd be a nice change of pace. Might even be paired with a map pack, following their trend of making Campaign environments into Multiplayer maps.

Granted, you guys are 100% right, Bungie has hidden a huge secret in this game and a hundred smaller ones. But who says that big secret is the Legendary ending? Perhaps you guys are chasing the trail of something else and don't know it?

  • 10.05.2010 3:30 PM PDT

ALL I am trying to say is that its just a small connection to CE, as opposed to something completely random.

The other ones are Random, or for humor ect. but not all of them.

Yea its getting off topic I just am getting annoyed that people are saying it HAS to be Linda when clearly it doesnt HAVE to be her.

Getting back to topic...

When I got the game I played through the Campaign, Solo, Legendary for the specific reason of expecting an awe inspiring hidden legendary cinematic or dialouge or something. I mean its something we have all come to expect from this series and to not have one as part of their "swan song" is a HUGE drop of the ball. Im sure your disapointment was shared with mine when you found EVERY difficulty setting had the same ending.
Now I am not craping on the ending, I did enjoy it, But this is like not giving the teeball players a snowcone after the last game of the season, when they got one after all the other games.
Its possible it hasnt been found yet, but I doubt it. On the otherhand maybe they forgot/intended not to, hence the LoneWolf ending/your death, followed by Cortana's Speach of victory and courage?
The only thing I can think of, if they dont have some sort of update, or DLC, or if it isnt COMPLETELY hidden from us (we can only hope) is that the Legendary secret is within the Datapads. The Lonewolf Pad is very creepy and Maybe THAT is where the secrets are?

Speculation at its finest. :)

How have you been ignored?

This is obviously the friggen key.

Obvious things that need to be done: Kill Bobs, hit switches, kill everything in every level

Not so obvious: Not to shoot where you can throw grenades? Cap lock run key? Possible armor ability reference?

Finish the game without shooting and without armor abiltys or sprint. Thats my guess.

Not possible. Some parts require an armor ability to progress, such as in New Alexandria when you have to jetpack with the ODST "Bullfrog" squad.

Damn you, Platypus, damn you! I just came to this thread to post that. It has to be the key to the Legendary ending, it fits too perfectly.

Requirements we are probably looking at for the Legendary ending are:

-Activate all switches in Campaign
-Kill all Bobs in Campaign
-Play through Campaign on Legendary (possibly Mythic, I also think it would be a solo run)
-Possibly unable to use armour abilities, but I doubt it

Again, it fits perfectly. I can really see this being it. Kippa, you should edit it to your OP.

Okay Vadam and everyone, it's been updated. If theres anything else that you'd like me to add, let me know.

That Vidmaster's Oath is a find of brilliance.

Also, peep, Save Thread this if you can be bothered. The amount of people making "I GOT BANNED" threads pushes everything down to the bottom of the barrel.

EDIT: ... and saving the thread helps to keep it up top.

Yes, we know the Vidmaster's oath, esecially since this has been brought up already, so we know it's likely that we need to do these things, but since no one HAS done them yet, I was just showing that there is a little bit more current statement from Bungie there, to support that this is probably one thing that must be done.

Another thing to mention, since this is the VIDMASTER's Oath, they may have a purpose other than a Legendary ending as, of course, Halo 3 had Vidmaster achievements, but they didn't arrive until later with the DLC. Perhaps, being part of the Vidmaster's oath and all, these are for a future Vidmaster achievement to arrive with later DLC. Might not be the most likely scenario since they are already in the game, with the little hints in their description in the stat listings on B.net, but a possibility.

Another point here: "Total Carnage" was Marathon's highest difficulty setting. As such, the Halo equivalent would be playing the game on Legendary.

Again, there isn't anything "sure" about any of this. But hell, even if there is no Legendary ending, it would still be great to see folks play through Reach utilizing such improvised Vidmaster rules.

I would like the cryotube to contain Linda...just to finally have her in a game. But then I would begin to wonder where the rest of the Spartan's are throughout the game.
Example: Master Chief is in that random Warthog on that far off cliff. Frederic is the one who flies off in a longsword above your and Jorge's head. etc...

No, that would mean go through entirely on Legendary or Mythic. Total Carnage is the highest difficulty in Marathon.

EDIT: Oh, Platypus. Nailed it again! I think I'll just stand back and let you do the talking. =P

http://www.bungie.net/card/halo3/Freddy%20Dahmer.ashx

"Never use Caps Lock as my run key" = don't ever trade sprint for Armor Lock.?

"To admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage" = notice Total Carnage is capitalized as if it were the name of a level or a difficulty setting. so its probably saying not to play the game on anything but the hardest level/difficulty possible (Mythic)?
