everyone keeps talking about this mangum. bungie has never said anything about a magnum and so far it has not been in the E3 build or the build the mountain dew boys played. the only person who claimed to have seen it was someone who was lying about playing the beta.

OXM did mention a covenant sniper rifle in a small caption on the bottom of one of the pages of a Halo2 preview they made a while ago. They said that they saw a bunch of guns that might not make it into the final game, but the only one they mentioned was a, "super powerful covenant sniper rifle." I'm sure HBO has a press scan of it if you feel like looking.

just because weapons are mentioned in the books doesn't mean they are going to be in the game. i'm sure that if he had been truthful that post would have been locked down and deleted faster than anything.

There is a larger pistol in the book, but I don't think it's ever called the magnum. With how all the other guns are named, "magnum," doesn't sound like it fits in. When I thing Magnum I think revolver, and the gun in First Strike was just a larger pistol.

It was a larger pistol than the one in Halo 30% longer barrel and the round is as big as a Spartans thumb. Kelly duel weilded those hand cannons and took down to elites nice pistol but i dont think it's gonna be in Halo 2.

There was a post on the AGP website by someone who got a hands on with the beta.

In it were the magnum, covie carbine, covie sniper and brute slug launcher

"Magnum" has nothing to do with a shape of a weapon or it being a revolver. Magnum refers to the type of ammo the pistol uses, magnum cartridges usually hold more gun powder and are a bit longer.

no idont believe it was called a magnum but that is just a stereotypical name for a gun of a bigger caliber (did i spell that right?)... and i think Bungie would have told Eric Nylund to take the bigger pistol out if it wasnt in the storyline... and since its in the storyline i think its a good possibility that it will be in Halo 2...

i thought magnum rounds were usually wider than than normal not longer than normal bullets..... but i could be wrong...

No, I don't think that magnums are actually wider, because there would normally be a plain .45 cal round, and then there could be a .45 magnum. I think if it was wider it would end up being like a .50 cal magnum round (or just a plain .50 cal).

The covie sniper has been confirmed in alot of places: OXM and this new german mag info at HBO, and bungie was the one who told us of the magnum, so 10 to 1 it is in the game. And no the name prolly isnt "The magnum" but because bungie hasn't given us any other name thats what we call it.
