There is a larger pistol in the book, but I don't think it's ever called the magnum. With how all the other guns are named, "magnum," doesn't sound like it fits in. When I thing Magnum I think revolver, and the gun in First Strike was just a larger pistol.
"Magnum" has nothing to do with a shape of a weapon or it being a revolver. Magnum refers to the type of ammo the pistol uses, magnum cartridges usually hold more gun powder and are a bit longer.
i thought magnum rounds were usually wider than than normal not longer than normal bullets..... but i could be wrong...
No, I don't think that magnums are actually wider, because there would normally be a plain .45 cal round, and then there could be a .45 magnum. I think if it was wider it would end up being like a .50 cal magnum round (or just a plain .50 cal).
