I was just curious, if a game were finished completely including marketing and printing, would the company release it early? Games always get postponed howcome its so dificult to make them come out on time. If its that hard why not just say the game is coming out way later to give yourself plenty of time to finish it by that date or sooner?

Stop complaining. Video games aren't made overnight. Quit whining and wait, I'm sure they're working as hard as they can to meet their NOVEMBER 9TH release date.

I mostly just wanted to know with games in general not just halo 2, howcome we dont see more early release dates instead of them always delayed? Im not trying to attack bungie or any other game company. I just want to see a game released early once in a while. If a company said they were going to release a game a year from now when they know they could finish it in six months then they would have plenty of time and they could drop it early to surprise everybody.

I think the reason you never see an early release date for a video game is because the testing and bug fixing is almost endless. There is always another flaw in the game that must be fixed or that is waiting to be found. But, this is just my opinion.

"Egyptian Jackal is wrong."

Kinda sounds like what you said. Same thing when it comes down to it, anyhow.

The rest of you: Stop the flaming. Now.

A game is never finished. Ever. When a developer sets a release date, that is the date by which the developer believes the game will be ready to be played and enjoyed, however, that does not mean that the developer is actually satisfied with the game. It means they realize they'll work on the game until eternity or until they go broke unless they set a date by which they must let go and let the game be sold to consumers.

to answer your origonal question. halo2 is not going to be postponed, dont worry.

And the reason game companys usually are behind scedule and say to early of a release date, is because there is a fat money man with a blowtorch up there asses telling them to hurry. Therefore they are often over optamistic about when it will be done. Earlier release equals money sooner for the investors in the game company.

Also if the people making the game say they are doing bad right now and need another couple years to finish it, investors might lose hope and pull out all there money which would close the project entirley. So instead they people making the game keep saying it will be done in just a few more months, over and over until it actually is done.

(Im not sure if this is 100% correct, but I pretty sure it is.)

-edit-
nvm listen to shishka hes 100% sure, and his thing is simpler
