Subject: Interesting? Quite!

This thread is loosely based on the BBC2 quiz show QI. I'll ask a question and you have to answer it. Simple. However, the obvious answer isn't always the correct one.

First question: What colour is water?

  • 05.04.2004 12:43 PM PDT

bah

First off, this is the kind of off-topic post that I don't really like.
Second, water is white. (Please tell me I'm wrong! I'm in an arguing mood!)

Dude there is no color. This might be interesting but its not related to Halo, and although I dont personally care what your topics are about, some people will want this thread removed for its non-relavance. (Just a heads up)

First off, this is the kind of off-topic post that I don't really like.
As I said in the other post, I don't agree with you on this. However, I'll try to come up with a Bungie-related one.

Water is only blue looking because the sky is reflected off of it. So what makes the sky blue? ITS THE WATER ... dont ask questions youll only hurt your brain.

water is clear

  • 05.04.2004 12:48 PM PDT

bah

Water does not absorb any colors. It only reflects and allows colors to pass through it.
Q: What color reflects only blue light and allows only blue light to pass through? A: Blue
Q: What color reflects only red light and allows only red light to pass through? A: Red
Q: What color reflects all light and allows all light to pass through? A: White
Technically, white is a lack of pigment that absorbs light. But, if you're going to call white a color, then clear things are white. Simple as that. (What color is a mirror?)

White is a color, thats obvious and there is no doubt. However water is clear and has no color as it does not have taste, don't argue with me on this because my science teacher even agrees with me. The only reason water is seen blue is because of the sky, I won't get into that. When it is moving fast and hits against itself it will appear white. The actual color of water is, water has no color, it is clear, clear isn't a color.

the color white is made from combining all the colors of the rainbow. so, technically water has no color but id call it clear :)

Speaking of colour, and speaking of off-topic stuff:
How do you think does the MC camouflage himself then? There must be some kind of reflecting what's behind him.
Dunno.
Since we got all our brains working now, any suggestions?

You mean Active Camoflage? I think that the light is bent somehow.
Arn't the Brtitish and American militarys developing something like that but like the James Bond one with cameras?

  • 05.04.2004 1:37 PM PDT

Maybe it's just me, but I find it amusing that we are arguing about the color of water…

There is and never will be a camouflage where you can run more than 100 meters away from yourself. There is no possible way.

If you fly a plane with ten passengers to America, unload three passengers, take on five passengers, then fly to Antartica, drop off four passengers, and take on one passenger...

...what is the pilots name?

(If you have heard this "riddle" before... please refrain from answering until the less devious/clever of us have. It's usually funny, after all!)

I don't think it has a color because it only reflects different kinds of light waves, since you are able to see seperated colors.
About the active camouflage. The camera thing makes sense and is probably the most "realistic" one, for those times, of course. I recognized that one in James Bond aswell.
So it makes sense if you could activate the active camouflage in Halo 2, since MC's suit will probably be pimped-up. He'll be probably the biggest and most effective "camera man" in the world (universe?)......
