Just my 2 cents on re-creating Buck and also the ODST GSgt Stacker that appeared in Halo 2 and Halo 3 several times. As well as on ODSTs in general.
BUCK:
Primary Color: Sage (NOTE: Although traditonally in Halo 2 and Halo 3 ODSTs wear black armor, in Halo ODST the ODSTs including Buck wore Sage.)
Secondary Color: Sage (In fact Buck's secondary color in Halo ODST was Olive/Green (next lighter shade over from Sage on the color chart "green") on his chest peice and Helmet/shoulder strips however it is pointless to use this in Halo Reach as the secondary color placement is different and in fact using Sage for both primary and secondary will creat more or less the correct lighter areas in some places like part of the chest)
Helmet: ODST
Left Shoulder: ODST
Right Shoulder: ODST
Chest: ODST
Wrist: Default
Utility: UA/NxRA (Note: No idea about that)
Visor Color: Silver (NOTE: ODSTs always have silver visors. The misconception that they are "black" or "blue" is easy enough to understand. In Halo ODST in several cutscenes where Buck carrys his helmet but does not put it on the visor is black (because it's in it's clear mode and since no-one is wearing it it's reflecting the inner helmet liner). However when he is wearing it the visor is always clear or silver. Additonally to add to the confusion in firefight/campaign lobbies all visors appear black (even Dare's) but in the actuall campaign and firefight they will be silver (look in theater mode to see for yourself). The "blue" color people sometimes imagion they see is reflection off the silver surface and lighting which sometimes makes appear somewhat blue but all ODSTs in-game from Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo ODST have silver visors, even in the live-action sequences for "Arms Race" and "We Are ODST" they are silver.)
Knee Guards: Para (if you look at the knee guards used by ODSTs in Halo: ODST the Para ones come closer because of the points on the sides they aren't exact but closer then grenader)
ODST GSGT STACKER/OTHER ODSTs from Halo 2/3 (Note: The voice actor for GSgt Stacker did the voices of several ODSTs in Halo 2 and Halo 3 and always as Sgts (notable because of their red rank mark)
Primary Color: Steel (On the ODST parts of the armor the "steel" color will actually appear black because the ODST armor peices will always be a shade darker then the rest of the armor the steel blends well with it and the underparts of the armor and it's a very close effect to the traditional ODSTs from Halo 2 and Halo 3 all things considered)
Secondary Color: Steel (Although ODST Sgts in Halo 3 had a red strip on their shoulder armor where lower ranks had a silver/white one it's impossible to recreate that with the Halo Reach color patterns)
Helmet: ODST (in Halo 2/3 he wears a standard helmet with no attachments)
Shoulders: ODST
Chest: ODST
Wrist: Default
Utility: None although some of the leg utilities do create an additional darker armor peice effect which will appear black when using steel, but again the ODSTs had no extra utilies in Halo 2 or 3 as standard issue).
Visor Color: Silver (see notes on why ODST's ALWAYS have silver visors above)
Knee Guards: Para (Although in Halo 2/3 the knee guards for ODSTs were probably if memory serves correctly probably closer to grenader then in Halo ODST where they were more developed and closer to Para, Para seems to fit better and is cheaper and more readily available anyways, either set should pass well enough)
ADDITONAL NOTES: According to the notes found with the ODST armor peices for Halo Reach, it appears that ODST armor was an off-shoot of armor orginally developed for Spartans, so I suppose it's possible there may have been units of ODST Spartans as for-runners to the Marine ODSTs who knows?
Hope this is helpfull for fans of ODSTs out there enjoying the ODST armor in Reach I'd be wearing it myself but I'm doing the Breast Cancer Awarness Month pink, and ODST armor just doesn't look right to me in that color. :)
As I've stated before, the Utility listed for the Buck/ ODST rundown in the OP is completely wrong. Buck has two ammo clip pouches on his left thigh, and the closest you can get to them is by using Tactical/ Hard Case. Some of the other characters you can play as in ODST have the same pouches as Buck.
For Knee Guards, Grenadier is the best fit for how the ODSTs appeared in Halo 3 ODST in my opinion, which is the main game most people know of them from.
As for armor color, I'll just stick with Steel. There's no way we'll be able to replicate their armor color from that game exact anyway.
