in the Halo 1 each weapon had the same melee attack damage.

I remember hearing something about different weapons doing differrent amounts of melee damage in Halo 2. I believe it was from an unofficial source though, so don't count on it.

trust me, there are different amounts of damage while melee attacking for weapons. there are also different amounts of damage while melee attacking when running, jumping, and from different angles. bungie says so on their halo information stuff

The link didn't work and you're wrong. The only way you can do more damage is by running or jumping at an opponent. The only differences between weapons, melee-wise, is speed. I've tested every weapon in Co-Operative and Multiplay and they all do the exact same amount of damage.

Yeah, it's all the same. But that one post that was put up here the other day. The guy claiming to be a beta tester. Claims that melee damage in halo 2 is different for each weapon.

It's true that all damage from melee attacks from weapons are the same on Halo, and on Halo 2 the damage is different (otherwise the plasma sword melee will do the same damage as a melee with an SMG).

sorry but YOUR WRONG. The only things that do more damage are flags and skulls in Halo1. If you believe what your saying is true you are a (word snipped by moderator)

Every melee attack in the game is exactly the same amount of damage, they just have different speeds AS said in the game manaul.

For the game Halo, for the xbox, all weapons do same amount of damage besides the skull (oddball), and the flag. That is a fact. However some weapons have faster/slower melee's then others.

god you people are dumb. just because you think you know everything about the game doesn't mean you do. go to the official bungie halo guide and check the weapons. they give different amounts of damage units (DU) per blow. here is an example:
M6D Pistol

AVAILABILITY: Common
ZOOM: 2.5x
ROUNDS - DEFAULT: 60
ROUNDS LOADED PER USE: 12
MAX AMMO CAPACITY: 120
ROUNDS FIRED PER SECOND: 3.5
RELOAD TIME: 2.17 seconds
MELEE RATING: 40-60 DU
HIT DAMAGE: 25 DU
HEADSHOT: 1-shot kill (with 0 shields)

look at MELEE RATING
