in the Halo 1 each weapon had the same melee attack damage.
has anyone herd anything about each weapon having different damage when melee attacking?
this is not true. there was different melee damage for weapons in halo 1

no you are wrong, all melle atack damages in halo1 where the same, it was the speeds of melee attacks that varied from weapon to weapon. And i heard in a review that the melee attack damages are different depending on the weapon.

The Xbox and PC could be different, but the xbox version had the same melee damage for all guns but they had different speeds.

So, hitting someone with a melee from the plasma pistol (your fist) and hitting someone with a rocket launcher do the same damage, but the plasma pistol melee is better because it is faster, in fact it's the fastest melee in Halo, making it the best to use.

Okay, so I went to the link you provided for us and found this information: "All Melee damage is in the 40-60 unit range - we have repeated it for each weapon for reference purposes." I then looked through the weapons listed and they all had the EXACT same Melee rating which is listed as 40-60 DU. It would appear that all of the weapons do in fact have the same amount of damage. If I have misinterpreted the information, please correct me.

hmm i think the rocket launcher is one of the slowest...definatly the needler is the slowest melee attacker of them all cause u have to get ur hand off the triger and then turn it and then hit them with it then get ur hand on the trigger again

Charge!
Melee from a standing position does less damage than if you jump, or run towards your opponent.
However, does anyone know how to get a one shot kill from a melee that is not delivered to the back of your opponent?

Hit em in the right schin (Sp?)

In levels like Wizard and Longest you can get below opponents and smack em in the lower right leg, instant death.

Same bat time, same bat channel.
