Forgive me if I am annoying you but, I see some people with an avatar that is not on the choice list. I know how to get your Xbox live symbol up there, some people have halo 2 symbols that are not avalible. These are questions that are stupid but if you wish to answer them please do.

Notice I said "I know" how to get your halo 2 icon. I was wondering how to get the glowing hunter or something like that.

Regular members can't get custom avatars. Simple as that.

That would be Anton's custom avatar.

If you are a higher ranked member of B.net then you get a custom avatar.

Rumor on the street is Achonos is working on a kind of karma system that hands out rewards, most likely things of this nature- in the coming months. Keep your fingers crossed, new avatars and titles may soon become a reality.

To make a link do the following:

http://link.com and remove the spaces.

If you have more questions, then look at one of the Stickied topics on this forum.

I suppose the potential issue there is that giving these titles and avatars to certain people may boost their ego.

I used to post on a Resident Evil forum, and the vet members there were total chodes. All they did was flame and -blam!- about new members. They even had an 'exclusive' forum for members who had been around for more than a year.

Well, the members who have been around a while are here because of their love of Bungies games, not because of 'special' avatars and titles. Or the possibility of becoming a mod. So I suppose its not really an issue at all.

(Dude, what an irrelevant post).

That which can be given, can be taken away just as easily. Hence "karma."

Anyhow: Forum moderators are chosen from people Bungie comes to trust to be able to HANDLE the responsibility of moderator.

Community Guy goes to people who contribute to the community. For example, creating a seventh column theme that gets added to the website. Both Forum Ninja and Community Peoples get a custom title and avatar.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

They ask you to volunteer...and that's basically it. I believe most of the mods used to be normal forum-goers like us, and they were asked to police the forums...and thus became forum ninjas.

But you must take special note that that does not mean you can say "I want to be a mod cuz i am volunteering!". The only time you choose to become a moderator or not is when you recieve an e-mail from staff asking if you want to become one or not.

Not only the Halo community. The entire community- Marathon, Myth, whatever. But I'm sure you all get the jist of it. Just be a contributing member to the forums to become a Mod. The Content Monkey in hired though. His job is to post the news and do the PR for Bungie. Same goes for Sketch, who is the Community Guy.

EDIT: I don't think we're talking about the same Community Guy...

There's no such thing as ranking.

 • 10.13.2005 9:15 AM PDT

The Karma idea is a good one, but if it were started i would like for it to be hidden from all members and only visable to mods. This way you don't know what you have: eliminating the problem of people trying to show off or complain about their stature in the community.

About the custom avatar thing. Isn't that a reward for making a Chapters background or something like that for B.net. I believe thats what I heard, and about the Karma thing. I think that would be cool and what you said goldhawk makes perfect sense. Regular members shouldn't be able to see their rank for that very reason.
