Why does everybody hate campers? Could it be because you rush through the game, and for all your talk of being strategic or quick with the weapons, they still get you? I understand that it is a game, but campers would have many less kills in the past three years if you would slow down and think. Blood Gulch bases? I still get my ass handed to me on a regular basis by that n**b with a shotgun! You know why? BECAUSE I'M RUSHING! If I'd slow down and think, I'd probably never die from a camper, I'd get them every time. Halo is great because you can't slow down most of the time, you can't tell your XBC teammates to not kill anyone until you get the flag, so there's usually somebody spawning right on top of you. That's why it's fun for everybody.
"Camping" is an essential part of military strategy. You find a good position and you dig in. On top of a hill, at the end of a dark alley or hallway, on top of a building and snipe, etc.... Any game where you can die from someone else is a game that is based on killing them first! That's it!!!! A fortified position is key to winning a battle. This doesn't come across well on video games because people are in a hurry.
Probably one thing I like/dislike the most about Halo are camping snipers. On one side; if you're sniping, you're easy to find if you miss. On the other; they have to move because of the bullet trail that's left behind....that big long white "shoot here" sign.
So, flame me if you will, I never camp, but I'll never understand why people complain about strategy in a game that strategy wins. I just respawn and go kill him.
