Port 80 is generally the port you receive HTTP traffic on.

That is interesting that you are getting that type of incoming traffic from Bungie. I'm getting interferred with by someone who creates an icon in the lower righthand corner of the gaming screen, which freezes my playing ability. The icon is a square box with an X in the middle of what looks like a TV screen. It usually appears at an inoppertune time (during battle especially when I am winning that battle). Sometimes they will release the play, but lately, the game will be shut down after a prolonged appearance of this icon. Other times the server administrator will kick me out of a game also after the appearance of the icon.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Is the system administrator controlling this? Or is this a robotic application?
I just want to play fairly. I don't know if I am offending someone, if so please let me know what I can do to correct this. It is becomming frustrating to have this happen multiple times with no apparent explanation or cause.
HELP!!!!

Right hand corner of your gaming screen?

The only thing that rings a bell is when you are using (Windows Terminal Services) to remote control a computer using Remote Desktop Connection and the connection is severed or briefly disconnected.. A computer with a red X over it flashes in the right hand corner and your view of the remote screen is greyed out... Prolonged disconnect will then timeout your connection to the remote machine.

Your connection problem has something to do with a brief disconnect and then a timeout.. or perhaps your connection is too slow.. But that would cause a blue screen. Do you have a wireless adapter and if so, are there any older 2.4 ghz phones?

My question has still not been answered..Again.. This has nothing to do with Xbox Live, only bungie's web site.. I was not connected to xbox live nor was my xbox on. Browsing bungie's site on my Linux machine using Firefox did not generate any similar traffic.

I will move this thread from The Underground to The Septagon, since that is where site related discussions belong.

I receieved some traffic from the server baytest.bungie.net... which is.. this server oddly enough.. www.bungie.net = baytest.bungie.net

So whats the deal? Why is your server (from port 80) connecting to mine.. I know it has something to do with the .NET service. I found no explanation of the SAMD service.. Just curious, thats all.

ok, SAMD is Seamless Access to Multiple Datasets. As far as i can tell it's supposed to be there...I'm not totally sure what it does. I had a quick look at the pdf on it's website. It seems to allow easy distrubution of data (your .NET passport) across multiple domains or something... So you can have the same username a password for multiple domains. All i can really tell you for sure is that microsoft do use it with .NET, so its nothing to worry about.

EDIT - thought i should add a link to the website that explains this stuff. Its pretty technical so probably only for the network technically minded. But go here SAMD website

As far as i have been able to gather ChildKey is basically one of those security things that tells the browsers that stuff from bungie isn't -blam!-. Or some other harmful material.

i'm not sure that this was all that helpfull but it's all the info i could find. More info on childkey can be found

ChildKey

there.

hope this helps

EDIT- some of the info was slightly off.. so i fixed it... because i have nothing better to do....

It's so that when you go from MSN site to MSN site it remembers your passport name. For example I sign in to check my e-mail on hotmail I don't sign out and go over to bungie.net. Shazam I'm still logged in.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot.. That was an awesome description.. I figured it was normal with .net.. But why the incoming? Just curious, how did you find that information?

Well i don't know about anyone else, but i got mine from google. You just have to know what kind of stuff to type.

As for the incoming thing, well normally you'd recieve incoming traffic on port 80 if it was your regular http stuff. But this is a different application and it doesn't want to hog port 80 so it choses another. It's called port forwarding (or at least it's similar to port forwarding). So you'll be recieveing this servies web traffic on port 3275 instead of port 80. It probably just so you have a 'clean' connection with this service and it doesn't have to waid through all your other internet traffic for the information it needs to keep you signed in on .NET sites.
